160mm crank options
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered already but searching keeps bringing up 160mm brake rotor options.
I'm looking for lighter alternatives to Dura Ace 160mm 12speed cranks at 692g for a 52/36t (I'm running 11 speed)
THM, the most expensive option only go to 170mm for a spicy 302g
Rotor Aldhu strangely do 155mm and 165mm but skip the length I need. (549g for 170mm is the only weight I can find)
XCadey do a 160mm but are same weight as 105 at 725g
Cybrei seem to be the closest compromise at 162.5mm (320g for 170mm)
Wondering if there are any other brand options I could consider.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Iam searching crank arms too for my ultegra r8000 but they all too expensive !!! I have 79 inseam and need to test first before spend 200 euros.
I also ask my cycling brand , if they can change the 172.5 mm that they put on a small size , which i found big , but they refused
Until now i test 170mm which it seems faster . Dont know what is best for me. i wish i could try 165 or 167.5 .

I would recommend a bike fit.
That's what I did so at least you're not blindly picking sizes.
My 160mm now is a 105, been using it a year and had a couple more bike fits with it so length is confirmed.
Which is why now I'm looking for a lighter one.
Praxis Zayante Carbon has 160mm
And it is pretty good deal with Sigeyi Axo or Magene power meter combo at Powermetercity.com
link:
1) Sigeyi https://powermetercity.com/product/sige ... -crankset/
2) Magene https://powermetercity.com/product/mage ... -crankset/
Essentially, same price as Rotor Aldhu (alloy) with power meter spider but weight only 50g heavier than Rotor Aldhu Carbon with power meter spider.
If you don't need power meter spider, then subtract like 60g off the weight, I guess (~40g spider vs ~100g power meter).
I recently went from 165mm crank arms to 155mm and it's a positive change in average speed. I'm more aero and can stay aero for longer thus I'm overall faster.
I'm pretty sure my sprint and surge isn't as good as with 165mm crank.

I also have 79cm inseam. 169cm short.

Following.
I'm 175cm tall with an 80cm inseam. Currently riding 165mm cranks, but my fitter suggested going down to as low as 155 due to a right hip impingement.
Tried to get 160mm DA cranks for my new bike, but the dealer wasn't able to source any, so now slowly looking for an option over winter. Ideally, something that would be compatible with the SRM PM9 that I currently have mounted on my old bike.

Raketa Crankset looks really nice and SRAM 8 Bolt mounting for heaps of rings and spiders.
Elilee might be the lightest you'll find. Raceface/Easton mount for relatively good chainring and powermeter options.
Ignite Components come in the length you want and I think they do custom lengths on request. SRAM 3 Bolt mounting for lots of compatibility.
If lightweight and decent value are your key points, the Elilee is probably the best bet. Also, some of the weights you posted are arms/spindle and rings and some are just arms/spindle. Make sure you are comparing apples with apples.

Cybrei staying tight lipped
The exact release time is still a secret. I can only tell you that he will come soon. I hope you will continue to pay attention to it. Thank you.

I thought of that option too when I went down to 155mm crank. But it got invalidate by Praxis Zayante Carbon.B0tt0mline wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:02 pmRotor ALDHU are available in 160mm - have them on 5 of my bikes...
Rotor Aldhu alloy cost the same as Praxis Zayante carbon.
Praxis Zayante carbon is much lighter than Aldhu alloy and end up being only 50g heavier than the more expensive Rotor Aldhu carbon. So my best bike got Rotor Aldhu carbon. The lesser one got Praxis Zayante Carbon rather than Rotor Aldhu alloy.
