Incredible, i thought my Enve Aero stem at 184g (130mm) is a real boat anchor.
But these new aero bikes absolutely kill the competition
-12 degree shim not seen, but it's inserted in the stem

My Bontrager RSL 7deg 140mm weighs 130g. I was shocked at how light it is for a full carbon stem which surely beats the pants off the few alloy stems that long in stiffness:weight. IIRC Extralite Hyperstems only go to 130mm for example. Just wish it came in 12 or 17 deg.

Extralite in 140mm, no way i would use that. It's far to flexible even in shorter lengths. If you like to go for lighter, maybe you should look for Darimos alu when it comes in a 4 bolt version?
Or possibly buy an Enve. But Enve is quite high in stack height. But it is stiff enough for you

Pretty positive review in CyclingTips (or what's left of it)! I can't see any comments, but what do owners think? Agree, niggles?
There are a few factors why not many people are excited about this.
a) People were looking forward to seeing what Giant would do with a new full on aero bike with new UCI regs. This isn't it.
b) No choice of front end due to proprietary steerer interface.
c) Unobtainium.
d) What do they do with the TCR now? I can't see them turning it into an Aethos style noodle. The new Propel easily hits the UCI limit with low profile rims. Discontinue the TCR? Do a switch and make it the flagship model again, and full on aero bike? Do that and put it under the Cadex brand?

I wonder if part of the problem comes down to old school ideals!?
What do i mean?
I think some people if not many walks into a dealer and sooner or later they lift the bike.
When they lift the bike it feels so heavy, so they reroute to the thought of weight.
This is what i guess has been a not spoken of issue with all full blown aero bikes.
From this perspective it makes sense that the new bikes are half-breeds.
You get part aero and part resonable weight.

The TCR is still one of the best selling bikes all over the world, especially China.RDY wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 2:08 pmThere are a few factors why not many people are excited about this.

There is no way I'm getting the propel given that the TCR is the only bike that properly fits me (shorter seat tube across the board) and the propel doesn't allow for that. Most asian guys have short legs/long torso as well.
Plus, I absolutely despise integrated headset routing. I'm almost tempted to buy another TCR frame of the same size in case the next TCR comes with internal routing.
a real beauty shame only very few select giant stores can order this frameset.
build with a pro vibe evo cockpit. i thought this was not possible?

- really great stiffness numbers
- great aero, within reach of the best in class
- way more comfortable than previous gen.
- not plagued with fail-prone aeroad type concepts.
Availability seems difficult but nothing exceptional hard (the lbs has 1 on display and was assembling another).
If I had to add a bike next to the SSe2 I now mostly ride, that would be the one (or the Madone once I see Tour numbers and test ride it).

i was about to order the 105 equipped Propel to strip and rebuild it. Price for value is awesome and it seems to be exactly what i'm looking regarding ride feel. Bikes are available at several dealers.
Only thing making me think again is the sighting of the new supersix.
