Depending on the paintjob, the savings are usually in the 50-100g range. Stripping my deep green Aethos saved 72g, quite a bit, considering it was quite light before, and white paint seems to be the heaviest.

What a job. How many hours by now?

I contemplated removing the paint/laquer on my six13 as it's "free" weightsaving but can't get over my heart, as it's so beautiful now and almost all stripped frames do look a bit messy, especialy with filler showing here and there.

Hmm, but maybe on a new project? A shame you didn't weigh it before. I am eyeing the SSE 2015-16s as they look like having a good weight to $ ratio.

Spent another 3 hours on it yesterday, takes the total to around 19 hours or so.

More progress on the seat stays, brake bridge and also around the saddle clamp area. Looks like I've not done much during that 3 hours, but I'm starting to get into the more fiddly areas so it's taking much longer for any progress.

Couldn't do anymore than 3 hours as I was starting to get cold - weather sure has changed more wintery all of a sudden :unbelievable:

Still plenty to be getting on with :beerchug:

I'm full of admiration for the patience that those who strip frames exhibit.

I think they never imagined how much work it is but once started, they are committed to finish

Thank you for showing how much work is involved, so I never attempt to do the same ;-)

Another 3 hours done today, total hours 22.

Made pretty good progress round the bottom bracket - wasn't as bad as I'd imagined actually.

Also did a bit of tidying round the seatstay junction as I'd missed a bit last time and it was annoying me

Feel like the end is kind of in sight. Next time I'm going to focus on the end of the chainstays, feel it'll make a big differance visually once that white has gone.

Are there not cavities where the white filler is?

My understanding is the red/pink is the filler?

Are you purely using sandpaper or using a knife to scrape the paint too?
