Maryland Gran Fondo on Sunday
97mi (156km) and 10,800ft (3290m) of elevation gain
The longest climb was around 20 minutes but there were many 3-5 minute climbs that added up.

On Saturday I rode in the second King's Cup Gravel Championship in the masters age group race. This took place at a forest site in Suffolk in the UK. The start/finish was in a grassy arena with trade stands and food and drink and the course was a 15km lap along gravel and sandy tracks. The racing was intense and a whole lot of fun. I rode well enough and finished in the upper half of my category.

Here's a 5-minute video:

I also made a different edit in phone-friendly portrait format:

The club I'm in promoted its annual cyclocross race on Sunday. Have a look, this is grass roots racing - literally.

Btw, @spokenwords, the photo I assume you posted is not visible.

Hah, good to recognise somebody! Although it rained a little on Sunday morning the course was firm and fast. Looked like a one hour TT-level effort.

Col de Parpaillon.
This is a classic climb for French cyclists, an old military road. Many online reviews say that the dirt section is in bad shape, so I was prepared for the worst (40 mm tires), but surprise - the road has been refinished recently (the initial 7 km, the last 2 km somewhat worse), packed dirt worthy of Roland-Garros. Looks flat in the photos, but mostly 9-10%. And of course empty road in October.

Nice fall colors. And yes, the rain caught up with me.

Beautiful fall colors. Not a fan of winter with that said I do have my fat bike to make snowy days tolerable.

I did a hill-climb event up Mt Greylock once, would have been October 1994, on a loan bike that was too small for me. It's a substantial climb.
