I can see both available for direct consumer purchase.

Other than the Hub (CLX II comes with DT Swiss 180, the ceramic bearings and and a 2:1 lacing pattern for the rear wheel) are the CLX worth the extra money?

Thanks in advance!

CLX II comes with BLADED spokes.
CL II is, for some weird reason, laced up with ROUND DT SWISS Competition spokes. Not a great combination considering them being Straightpull as well.
This is especially weird considering the first gen came laced up using BLADED DT Swiss Aerolite Straightpull spokes.

Did you buy any of these wheelsets?

I’m considering these wheels.

Just bought the Alpinist CL2! Weight is 1345g with tubeless tape (tubeless valves 4g each extra). Nice build quality, dt 350 straight pull hubs and round DT Swiss Competition Race Straightpull Spokes.

Very reactive and stiff wheelset - much better than the zipp 303s I had before. They even feel faster on flat roads although the rovals have a shallower rim(33mm vs 45mm)!

For the price it sounds great. I was considering the Zipp 303FC. But I want to get these, mainly because of the hubs. I’ve had great experience with DtSwiss hubs through the years.

Had the same decision to do: 303 firecrest or Alpinist CL2/Alpinist clx2...took then the Alpinist CL2 because of the hooked rims (easier tire choice) and the excellent and approved Dt Swiss hubs with ratchet freehub!

The Alpinist Clx2 were too pricey for me...got the cl2 with a good discount at bike24!

The 303 firecrest are sure more aerodynamic than the Alpinist on the paper but for me the rovals are more the "set and forget" package!

Hi! Anyone bought the new Alpinist CLX II ? I was wondering whether the claimed weight is true or not.

The Alpinist are hooked, correct?

I'd want to use them tubed, not tubeless.

Yes, they are hooked. A few guys I know also run them with Tubolito or latex tubes.
