Had multiple Wahoo straps break on me, same goes for my cycling buddies. I don't understand how a brand that big throws their name up for grabs for something as simple as a HR strap. I definitely steer more towards Garmin/Tacx products who have their own faults, but never ran into much problems with them (plus they are somewhat local and preferred, making it a lot easier to replace when something goes wrong).

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know about the CR2025 but luckily I have some laying around from the Powerbox days.
Hmmmmm...

I stuck a CR2032 in the H10 and it "fits." Can you tell which one has the 2025 and which one has the 2032?

Nope but I'll use the advised type of battery anyway.

Another vote for the Polar H10. Solid performance and long history in the sport and HR monitors.

In the early 2000s I had Polar unit that was made in Finland and have been committed ever since. I’d love it see Polar develop a better bike computer that would compete with Garmin and Wahoo.

Seeing their track record with pretty much any hardware it's no surprise that the HR strap matches almost everything else they produce in quality.

What are peoples thoughts on the Polar H9 or the Garmin HRM-Dual? Is there any reason to go with the Polar H10 over these two cheaper alternitives?

The Polar's using CR2025 batteries is somewhat of a turn off as I already keep CR2032's on hand for other things.

My original garmin strap is working PERFECTLY. bought it in 2009. It's had *ONE* battery change, and 2 straps. I've wanted a new one, but why?

The HRM Dual is functional, but the 4 Phillips #00 screws are sometimes a pain to back out. On occasion I’ve had to let some WD40 soak into the threads to swap batteries.

The HRM Pro Plus is took less but the sensor is integrated into the strap.

I go through at least 2 batteries every year with the Polar H10 and at least 1 battery per year with CR2032 based HRMs. I rode 950 hours in 2021.

Unfortunately this seems to be a not-uncommon issue. Your current battery might last less than a week. It seems some of the surface components can permanently short after some water ingress… the only fix is to send it in for repair/replacement.

Everything seemed dry when I swapped it, we'll see if maybe I have had some bunk Duracell batteries.
If not, I'll grab the Garmin and send this one in.

The HRM1G? Still what I consider the reliability benchmark, after all those years.

But we are on weightweenies, the H10 is 15g lighter. Even with the 2032 "monster battery". 30g lighter on a cardiosport FF5 strap

I've had the same issue with my Tickr strap sensors starting to peel after a year or two. I recently discovered you can buy replacement straps on AliExpress for $5 that are supposedly compatible. I think they are the same aftermarket straps that are going for $20 on Amazon with many reviews indicating they work. I've got one on order.

Garmin HRM Pro has been working very well. First I was sceptial because the pod is integrated into the strap, but it has been 100% every time.
Changed battery once, no problems (you will read horror stories about this online)
The HRM Pro Plus has tool-less battery swaps

These straps can connect to the Garmin app and receive firmware updates

Interesting that there are so many issues with the Wahoo straps. Mine is still working 5 years later. I like the clicking nature of the strap into the sensor, was never very fond of the style Garmin uses with the slide of thr strap onto the plastic buckle.
