So not trying to be snarky, just genuine curiosity, and I understand if you don't want to answer, but is the weight loss from a healthier lifestyle and a good training regimen or are you also leveraging a Semaglutide based prescription?
focused training and very strict diet
i did gain back about 6 lbs in the past few weeks, but i think its almost all muscle
i lift a lot, and recently started blasting quads and dumbbell press, after ignoring them for a couple years
That's the way to do it. Nice work!

According to my Garmin I'm 1% too. VO2 Max of 52 age 67.5.
I don’t believe the Garmin VO2 score. I’ve been using Garmin watches and Edge computers for years. I am 53, overweight, but fit and give the flyweights a run for the money except on the longer sustained climbs, and despite making sure my inputs are correct I range from 58 to 65.
What's your weight, FTP, max heart rate and at which heartrate can you do 90% FTP?benp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 4:42 pmI don’t believe the Garmin VO2 score. 105kg, 333W, 171 and absolutely no idea what watts I can hold at 90% FTP, but suspect close to my FTP. I do a lot of rides (upto 3hrs) and come back with a NP of 315-320, so that would suggest my FTP should be higher (however TrainerRoad virtual and Xert all give roughly the same estimate)
Exactly what I'm working on at this moment! (154 to 142 in my case)
142 has been my best riding weight so far in all of my riding years. Pity so much life happened between 2021-2022 and I went up all the way to 172!! (Highest in the last 9 years. I was way heavier before that)
I'm 5'7" and small frame though so I think even 60kg is possible but taking it 1 goal at a time.

The Garmin VO2 max thing just doesn't correlate to training and actual results.
Mine strayed up to 65 ish when I did a week in Norway in summer and I was climbing all day, every day.
My training has been incredibly consistent and the score has been 60-63 since then, but it'll downgrade you randomly, even if you've just done a really good threshold session.
My training partner's score is currently a point or two higher than mine despite my FTP being at least 50w more than his and I can leave him for dust whenever I want to outside. He's the same height as me (just over 2m) and the same weight (102kg).
So I glance at the score out of curiosity, but don't give it any value.

It's not random though.
There's standardized tables behind it that take into account your weight (duh) and then mostly power relative to the % of your max HR.
If you fill in your max HR wrong, the data is vastly off (although consistently). If your weight is wrong, same.
Big differentiator is HR%. If you train in the summer, you have a higher HR because of the heat and your VO2m estimate will drop.
In my experience Z2 trainings also result in a drop of VO2m estimate. There's some more quirks.

Weird question. Just becuase a person is older doesn't mean that have to be overweight and out of shape. I'm 58, 142lbs too as of morning weigh in. 6% body fat. I excercise and eat right. No drugs.ms6073 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 5:00 pmWow, that is a considerable drop at your age. Why would that be a weird question? Many, many Americans are using Ozempic and other drugs to lose weight. Everytime I see 50+ year old males doing 3 to 4 high intensity cardio workouts per week posted to Strava I suspect they are taking TRT. In America, there is a drug for everything.OnTheRivet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 9:30 pmWeird question. Just becuase a person is older doesn't mean that have to be overweight and out of shape. Ozempic is not a drug an athlete would take, is what I meant. I live in an area in Southern California where it seems every guy over 40 is on TRT and a lot of the women. Sage advice from a doctor friend, Cancer LOVES exogenous testosterone.stoney wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 11:39 amWhy would that be a weird question?
