Why the locking of threads?

Speaking as someone who was banned for two months, I want to thank the moderators for doing a difficult, time-consuming job for free, effectively and reasonably. We are all lucky that they have stepped up to take this on.

I agree with suggestions above that folks should be banned more often. Being banned was a great one shot learning experience for me to see how how others saw me. Message received, and my behaviour was modified accordingly. The folks I find most tedious are the one trick ponies.

I have one troll that makes only negative comments on my post . A couple of my posts were locked because it just ended with name calling and what not . I've grown to ignore these trolls but a complete block or even the ability to delete a post would be good .
