Hey all,

I bought a Canyon Inflite as an all round bike with a set of gravel wheels and road wheels.
Its running Ultegra and GRX front and rear.
Currently running 36/52t with a 11/32t.
What's the best set up for a gravel bike with 2 x?

I can get a 11/34t cassette.... should I down the front chain rings as I find I struggle with the 36t 32t on the steep stuff.

Cheers

Do you struggle a lot with your current setup?
If yes, I would switch to a GRX crank with 46/30 or 48/31 and the 11-34 cassette. (GRX cranks need the GRX front derailleur!)
But maybe it would already be enough to change chainrings to 50/34 and to the 11-34 cassette.

I'd just throw on the 48/31 grx crank and keep the 11/32 in the rear. I had an inflite with ultegra Di2 and had a 2x grx crank on the front. I was able to get the regular ultegra FD to work, it was just maxed out on the limit screw.

Depends where you live and on your fitness. 48/31 11-40 is certainly not overkill where I live.
What is the lowest gear ratio you would need? I would preferably change for the grx cranks but a 11-36 or 11-40 cassette depending on what you have and need could be more versatile

Thanks for all the advice.

I also have the 46/36t Ultegra chainring the bike came with.... I'm thinking of swapping the 36t out for a 34T (46/34T) and putting a 11-34t cassette on it.

Or would a 50/34t compact chainring with the 11-34 cassette be better?

Thoughts?

Those GRX rear mechs will shift a 11-36 and even a 11-40 cassette fine, could be worth switching to one of those.

Pair a 11-36 cassette with a 50/34 crankset and that combo should be good for both gravel and road duties.
