The Ingrid cassette can be found a bit cheaper from various European places, but is still horribly expensive; I'm in Australia too. Whilst it'd be nice if Shimano were to make something suitable I'd say there's Buckley's chance of that happening; they seem to think GRX is for gravel racers only, most of whom seem to be big gear pushers. :-(

Is the mech cage any longer than first gen?

Do you want to compare ground clearance or pulley to pulley distance or other dimension?

The cassette clearance. Since they increased the max from 34 to 36 I want to know if they elongated the cage (and if it can therefore easily take 40 or 42) or if it's just marketing and they already deemed first gen compatible with 36T

First gen GRX RD can handle a 11-40 cassette. Even if the second gen GRX can handle a 11-40 (very likely) the problem is a lack of a cassette. HG+ is amazing and I wouldn’t trust any cassettes not made by Shimano.

Shimano has relegated low gearing options to the trekking category served by the Cues. Cues has a RD with a capacity of 48. And they make a 11-45 cassette for 2x. The problem is that cassette lacks HG+ and is 11-speed. And there’s no Di2 options with Cues.

I'm already running 11-40 2x old GRX with a 22€ aliexpress cassette and it's flawless. I just want to know if they could now take a 42T easier as a potential upgrade. There are plenty of 11-42 12 speed cassettes already, official and unofficial

Shimano are never going to say it's okay to use anything that isn't part of the groupset in question. That doesn't mean other things won't work, but it's up to us to figure things out and document them.

FWIW, I don't much like any of the current or projected gravel (or road) gearing options, but one can usually work around them.

I know they've always been very conservative with their compatibility, I'm just trying to figure out if their new increased STATED limit means we can actually run bigger than before but it seems noone has experimented yet on new 105 or GRX

Seems hugely overpriced - and I don't mean Ali, I expect this pricing to be representative. Low end heavy cassettes, and an RD based on the 4th tier MTB groupset, and they want that much ...

Sure as hell looks like a Deore M6100 RD with minor differences ... It's not SLX / XT / XTR.

what do you say about the color? Why for me is it more similar to an XT than a Deore... have you compared them well?

RD-RX822 looks more like redesigned RD-M8100-GS + cable "cover tonge" from RD-M9100 + cable adjuster from RD-M7100 mechanical
