New GRX this year?

Shimano can't even supply new Dura Ace and Ultegra groupsets!

I don't want to pay a hefty premium on eBay...but this is a bit ridiculous. So even if they update GRX, how can deliveries be done in 2022?

Nah, next up is bread and butter 105 mech/Di2. GRX maybe next year if they can manage the supply of 105/UT/DA...

Yeah... I'm expecting 105 and MTB, not GRX.

I'd love to see GRX and it would make sense, but I don't expect Shimano to update GRX this year

Why does it seem like EU and Asia are getting most of the supply. I’m in the U.S. and still waiting for mine after pre-ordering them two month ago

GRX is the one that needs wider range gearing more than the 105. And Shimano should milk the sales from the Dura Ace/Ultegra before they introduce the lower cost alternative in the 105. GRX has no internal competition/cannibalization and has only external competition in the form of Sram. So I’m betting on a new GRX this year

Seen used Ultegra groups on ebay already from Japan. 3000.00 usd for a used ultegra group, F%%ck that. It's not even a huge upgrade other than another gear. From 10 feet nobody can tell it's the new or old.

Yeah, would be nice but Shimano is moving so slowly they might as well be in neutral or perhaps reverse half the time.

It was a long wait but Ultegra and DA is flowing quite well now - waaaaaaaay better than SRAM. Total role reversal from last year.

GRX already has servowave, only thing they can update is to make it 12 speed. As others have mentioned, I think Shimano will release some other groupset updates before updating GRX, which is only two years old.

Here's a thought: what if Shimano's answer for GRX (12-speed) is just to make GRX a sub-group of one of the existing groupsets (ala SRAM AXS XPLR)? Think Ultegra GRX and 105 GRX. This would eliminate the need for a totally new groupset.

Anyway, just my meandering thoughts.

I am not sure I am following.. the GRX is based on those groupsets. Also some parts of XT/XTR. They just chose a distinct name. Also the XPLR is more than just a slightly tweaked Rival/Force/Red. Parts of the technology is more in line with the Eagle groups.

What do you mean by eliminate the need for a new groupset? Such a move would be for the naming convention but only. They'd still need new rear mechs because they're built around clutches, different cassette sizes, and 1x options. They'd still need new cranks and front mechs because they're built around different size chainrings and 1x options. They'd still need new shifters because they're built around different ergonomics, brake leverage, 1x options and dropper options. At this point I think it's fair to say you've just designed a totally new groupset.

Well, both 105 Di2 and new GRX are on 2024 bikes.

New GRX and a new XTR based Mullet is definitely needed. I think Shimano is missing out on a lot of the market.
