Who make Power2max's 48/31 and 46/30 104bcd
Moderator: Moderator Team
Saw that power2max offer gravel power meter with 104 bcd bolts.
This thing pair with either 48/31 or 46/30 chainrings 4 bolts 104bcd. Simple question: Is this a rebadge of some other chainrings we can order somewhere?

Thinking of pairing this ring with non power meter spider 104 bcd.

Are you sure about that? That's got a lot of cnc work, which I don't see on Praxis' rings. Praxis looks to take larger steps when they do.
This looks like started with something similar to this FSA TT ring blank - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0038/ ... 1591773907
https://bikerumor-wpengine.netdna-ssl.c ... ckside.jpg
This ring has similar details and has an FSA part number https://bikerumor-wpengine.netdna-ssl.c ... ckside.jpg
The details look nothing like Praxis... but maybe praxis CNC small runs / FSA uses Praxis for some runs / P2M commisioned these rings too. The pic on their website is using FSA bolts... but those may just been handy. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0030/ ... 1594769982

I'll check with them again, but that's what I recall (it's been a few months since the convo). That FSA blank looks like a solid candidate. P2M partners with FSA to make their FSA PowerBox crank.jfranci3 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 4:39 amAre you sure about that? That's got a lot of cnc work, which I don't see on Praxis' rings. I just got my 46/30 P2M NG Eco meter with Rotor Aldhu arms. I swapped from GRX 600 which had worked well, with no chain drops in 6 months of riding, so was a bit worried about the shifting, but I'm very pleased to say that the P2M rings shift great, and actually even a bit faster shifting than the GRX rings.

i can confirm the latest batch of 48/31 is from Rotor. even has a logo on it.. it's a single piece of aluminum with two rings, much like their direct mount chainrings.
Some say pour 10ml water out of your bottle to save that last bit of the weight. Sorry, i go one step further, i tend to the rider off my bikes.
n+1...14 last time i checked, but i lost count

They must have changed vendors, their website clearly shows rings that say "Made in Taiwan". I took a closer look at the chainrings on my new power meter. The Rotor rings have four sets of pins and ramps. The GRX chainrings they replaced only had two, no wonder the Rotor rings shift significantly quicker!

Hi all. I've emailed P2M but haven't received a reply.
Are there alternatives to their 30/46 ring that mount to the 104bcd power meter? My first set is showing an alarming amount of wear after relatively few miles, and if I'm going to have to pay retail to replace them I'd like to try something else that might be more durable.
TIA!

Wear after a few miles? Pics. You do know the teeth are supposed to be an uneven pattern, right? https://cyclingtips.com/wp-content/uplo ... ture-6.jpg
All chainrings will have their edges smoothed out and lose their finish. Your chain shouldn't be wearing a ring that much unless your chain is super narrow or your chainline is off. The chain rollers land in the ring's pits, it shouldn't be pulling on the rings teeth. Something doesn't sound right here.
If those are FSA, that's 7xxx series AL, which should be plenty strong here.
As for the bolt circle... it looks like a 104 symetrical - Try https://www.ebay.com/itm/165745207506?h ... BM4M_YrJ5h

I think the small ring shows a bit of hooking. It's obviously not severe, but I still think there shouldn't be any noticeable wear after 1000 mi with a waxed 11s chain. P2M did eventually respond to me and said that the pics I sent them were nothing to worry about. Do you guys agree? I guess I'll see how it holds up over the long haul.
There don't appear to be other options for 2x rings that use a 104 BCD. The above link is for a single ring, whereas the P2M 104 BCD 2x rings are 1 piece.

Rotor has moved away from the 104BCD chainrings. Their latest GRX PM takes stock GRX rings, which are based on two different BCDs (you need a total of eight bolts to mount the two chainrings). Rotor might still have enough inventory of the 104BCD rings to satisfy future demand.
I looked at the worn chainring pics. and agree that they are worn, but not badly worn. You could still use them until they give you shifting issues.
