How much does your gravel bike weigh? (why are they so heavy?)

Just finished with some component upgrades for my Aspero. The new weight with Force AXS XPLR is now 8650 g (without bar tape, so add 50 g for that).

The bike has Zipp 303S wheels and G40 tyres, Easton carbon bar and post, Red AXS PM and crankset, etc.

Here is my newly-purchased Tifosi Cavazzo (size large)

Having sold my BMC Teammachine SLR01 Disc because I've fallen out of love with riding on the road (either here in the UK, or Madeira where I live for half the year), I decided to dip a 'cheap' toe in the gravel bike world. I spotted that the UK Campag distributor Chicken Cycles were selling a few shop-display Cavazzo's for a heavily-reduced GBP2,000. Not bad for a full carbon bike with Campag Ekar.

The frame is (I believe) a rebadged Carbonda affair built in Toray T500 and T700 fibres. Out of the box and with XT trail pedals, two bottle cages and a Garmin mount, it came in at 10.053kgs on my luggage scales.

As soon as it arrived, I made a few 'tweaks' to the specification, using items that were immediately available in stock here in the UK. The spec changes (with weight savings over the items replaced) are:-

Hunt 35 Carbon Disc X-Wide wheels with Continental 40mm Terra Speed Protection tyres (set up with tubeless valves and Stand fluid) - 815g saving
Galfer Disc Wave 160/140mm centre locks with Tektro lock-rings - 129g saving
Shimano XTR XC pedals - 122g saving
Hope carbon seatpost - 115g saving
Selle Italia Novous Boost carbon saddle - 126g saving
MT Zoom 90mm stem - 63g saving
Easton EC70 AX bars - 118g saving
Zefal Pulse L2 Pro-Line carbon bottle cages - null (as fitted to the bike when first weighed)
Nylon screws for redundant bolts - 38g saving
Ultralight seat collar, stem top cap and headset spacers - 21g saving
Lizard Skins DSP V2 2.5mm tape - forgot to weigh

Current weight 8,506g

I don't think the frame and fork is overly light and the wheels are probably about 250g heavier than the lightest Farsport et all offerings. Another 50-100g could probable be saved on the tyres if I went for something that would shred and puncture as soon as it saw gravel, but I am pretty happy with the result. The bike is size large and I weigh nearly 100kgs, so the bike needs to be sturdy enough. The saddle/seatpost does creak a little bit which is a little concerning, but all else is good.

Mine is pictured here- viewtopic.php?f=4&t=161754&start=900
16.8 lb/7.63 kg all in with cages, pedals, computer and pump bracket. Wheels are FarSports Gravel 30mm with 25mm internal. Tires are Donnelley MSO WC 700x40. So fully offroad capable, not a scale queen.

Great price that, wish I'd noticed that deal. The Cavazzo frame is a Carbonda 696 I think, same as my Ridley Kanzo Adventure and doubtless quite a few other brands. Looks like the Cavazzo fork is different from mine though. The frame weighs around 1200g as I recall. It's a very functional gravel frame, I enjoy riding mine a lot.

I'm in LOVE with this bike. Solid choices all around. Who made the frame?
