How much does your gravel bike weigh? (why are they so heavy?)

The spirit of Grav-lo-cross. No but seriously, cyclocross and gravel go here!

It's the old style fork (the frameset is 2 years old). I was actually pleased when I realised I'd got one before the updated fork with mounts came out. I've no need for fork mounts and it made removing the paint in that area less fiddly.

To remove the paint was a pretty laborious process, but not technically difficult. The One-one paint was SUPER thick, 3 coats in places plus clear, so I did the bulk of the work with a blade scraping it off, then sanded with 400 grit wet. Sanding got through the paint pretty easily, it's the clearcoat which is the hardest. I airbrushed some small areas black to cover up some parts I didn't want to be seen or were too fiddly to remove all the paint, like round the drop outs, rear brake mount and bottle cage inserts. There was also a big sticker in the resin on the downtube with the frame details, so this got covered up too.
Thanks for the response. My frame is from Carbonda, and it appears to me that it has been painted flat black with no clear coat on top. I may try my hand at sanding the paint off-might be a good winter project.

I have MTB from On-One, and their branding leaves a lot to be desired from an aesthetic stand point. I can understand why you stripped yours bare.
I suspect that won't be too much work at all then. I used a 2k clearcoat when it sprayed it, with a compressor and gun. Had to flat the final coat back quite a lot (it was my first time using a compressor / gun setup) and polish but the results can pretty much be as good as the time you're willing to put in to this process!

Yeah, I only went for the On-one branded frame as it was the cheapest option. I originally spoke to Carbonda about buying a frame direct, but the unknown duties put me off. I saw PlanetX sell frames with paint defects on ebay with a discount, so just went for one of those as I knew I'd be stripping the paint anyway. It was the worst of the old colour schemes too - the red / yelloe / purple creme egg style. The new colours are much better, particularly the black.

Thank you for your insight. I've never painted anything properly, however I could possibly make use of the shop air at my workplace on a weekend when no one is around.

Wow... you are the first person who complimented my "manually polished" silver DM rings.... I had to put clear coat on it due to its made of 7075 Al alloy which is prone to corrode and mechanically fail... Thanks again.

Thanks!! At first I was worried that the Xpedo pedals would clash with the frame but I think they look great! and hopefully shed mud better than SPDs

Just bought a 3T Exploro racemax in 54/M and put it on the scales..

8.4Kg as it is right now. (it is a 2by setup, with Sram Force AXS)

The place i can "win" the most weight is probably in the wheels.

Wheels: Forza Levanto db Carbon
Hubs: DTSwiss 350
Tires: Panaracer GravelKing SS 700cx40

And by going 1by with a lighter crankset. :)
