Seeing soms of the last posts here, two questions. Apart from the gt derailleur supporting the 48 tooth cog, why would you pick...

The gt shifters over the Ekar shifters? Shape of the hood, size, no ridge?

The gt derailleur over the Ekar derailleur? Better clutch with less drag?

Cheers Lars
At this point, I would not. Regular EKAR can be found for $800 and EKAR GT is over $1000 - if not $1200. The levers are different but honestly, feel very similar. That "bump" that is there- and I have now experienced it with some new bars - is less with EKAR GT. EKAR GT just feels very similar. The shifting is the same - but my EKAR builds are darn near perfect. The brakes are still class leading and group looks good.

If you need a 36 x 10-48 cassette, that would be your choice but honestly, I am not sure how large that market is.

I have ordered a custom italian titanium gravel bike and asked them about "electronic" EKAR and they are the ones that mentioned the future EKAR SRW. The shifter would be as SRW. That build should be in sometime in 2025.

@vespasianus: Thanks. I was solely asking functionwise, cost and 48tooth aside. The fact that GvA did Unbound with GT shifters and derailleur triggered me.🙂

The Ekar lever body shape started really annoying me, and it made my hands go numb. The stupid hump is useless. So I took a file and spent 5 minutes to make it better:

On my gravel bike, I have no problems whatsoever with the Ekar hoods. But on my new road bike with Ekar and a Giant D-fuse handlebar, they are quote uncomfortable. So I did what Eurperg did, and it really helps. Thanks for the tip! 🙂

Profile of the GT shifter is suppose to be more comfortable, and you cannot mix and match shifter/rear derailleurs from my understanding..

I have a new bike ordered - Italian Titanium! - and am going try EKAR GT with an EKAR OG crank. Should be the same weight as EKAR OG but with the ability to go to a lower cassette if I need.

These posts got me thinking and triggered me! :D

Hi, anyone tried to convert Ekar crankset from Pro-Tech to Ultra Torque system with the 6805N, as per BBInfinite instructions https://youtu.be/q-GEXwNKnqI?si=MkUANWeu469pMQ9R ?

I have done this. As I recall, you just take the Campy tool and swap out the bearings.
• A hi-zoot bike, pretty sweet
• An old bike, more fun than the new one actually
• Unicycle, no brand name visible

Great, thanks! I'm already using the magura mt 2/4/6 brake pads with my Ekar. This one will be the next improvement.

Hi Lars

I have the previous gen Ekar on a Palta II (and I am a Campy fanboy). The hoods are uncomfortable; if you actually look into Basso's website, the hoods point towards the moon.

On the rear derailleur - not sure about the new one, but the one I have has a very high level of tension.

I have Ekar on my Grizl and have trouble with a rubbing front rotor. Any ideas?

All usual fixes tried!

I dunno what it is with the Ekar brakes, but I fight with them all the time as well.. I have Campy DB on my Venge and SL8 and it took 5 minutes to setup, my Diverge and Crux are so picky.. I ended up using the ACS03 rotors and not the Ekar rotors, and it seems to have bought me just a tiny bit more clearance to avoid the annoying chinging noise..
Not sure why they would be different, as they are very similar. To me, the big question is if the pistons are retracting the same.

Also, a great set up with EKAR is to use the EKAR cranks with a 38T front ring, along with the EKAR GT shifters, RD and a mix of the first half of the 9-42 EKAR cassette with second half of the EKAR GT 10-48 cassette.

Also, I have been told that there will be no EKAR eps. They are working on an EKAR SRW but no thumb button. ):
EKAR SRW would be amazing! Campy had a great lead in the market with 13-speed and needs to keep investing in this space.

I think it would be a good move but the new annoucement is not this. I have been told is a road thing not gravel.

OOHHH! Inquiring minds want to know! Would love to see some new updates to the road line. It's where my heart has always been. I mean, they really could use a WRL Chorus as well as a more competitive Centaur groupset that can take market share from 105 & Rival. However, this really feels like a big miss considering gravel is truly the new growth space.

In typical Campagnolo fashion, it is modified version of SRW with bigger rings. Odd to say the least.
