They're 50/34 BOR rings. Oh yeah, just mounted my Schwalbe G ONE RS or whatever yesterday in 700x45. Looking forward to trying them out today on the road
That looks so clean. If only they put fender mounts on this thing…
Specialized’s argument would be that the Diverge is the bike you need.

I read that about the 40s but the 45s seem true to size.. unless I'm looking at my calipers incorrectly :!:
The Schwalbes seem to be very fast rolling but the ride yesterday was pretty wet, I will probably get out for may typical loop later today and see what I think. I also had a bit too much pressure in them. I was running Terra Speeds in a 35 previously but swapped them because the side walls were leaking sealant constantly. I got too good of a deal on my MCFK wheels from a friend but I think the 35s would be a good option. I was actually considering those for another build but that didn't end up happening

Thanks Rob! Luckily for us here in LA our winter doesn't require fenders and I rode it in the rain yesterday thanks to Ryan's poor meteorology skills.
A Diverge with a future shock delete would be cool so that you're not riding a beach cruiser

Image.. as I have a SW SL7 myself, I’m leaning towards a similar build as yours to differentiate as much as possibile the 2 bikes and 25 rim depth with round tubes make a very clean build indeed and probably more comfortable as well.. on the other hand a 35 front 45 rear with a aero bar look more aggressive and eye catching.. Flatlandclimber Crux with the 353s looks great as well..
looking forward to your review of the 45..

My Crux is the backup bike for my SL7, you'll enjoy it! I think the 25s are a good compliment to the bike but I do have 2 other wheel sets I can swap on if I want. I got out for my typical park loop this afternoon after a decent effort on our group ride and it felt great. The 45s roll quickly and I think once I get the inflation figured out, I'll really enjoy it. Might try to get back out on it tomorrow or Wednesday morning. Definitely prefer the Schwalbes to the Contis so far just because they're not making a mess on the floor.

I finally convinced my wife to let me buy the bike! The wheels and tires I swapped over from my old build, but included their cost below (all costs include whatever tax/shipping I paid). The bike is a 54cm Crux Comp that came to $4626 with tax and shipping, but I expect it to cost around $3500 after selling the old parts and including the value of having a new wheelset and tires to include with my old bike (Canyon Grail CF SL8 Di2). Basically the same as buying a frameset with tax added, however, framesets just weren't available. I will miss the efficiency of the Di2 from my old bike, but I've always preferred Sram's F1 style shifting and it is actually really nice not having to think about whether I am cross chaining or not (since I can't do anything about it now!). The bike came out feeling exactly as I had hoped with way sharper handling than the Grail, and a perfectly balanced, playful and agile feel.

Also cannot for the life of me get the front mech to work right. Running a GRX DI2 front with a Power2Max NGEco Gravel 48/31. It's either set correctly and often refuses to shift, or set with it out a bit further and shifts up every time but occasionally throws the chain off. Image

Same mech and spider (46/30 rings) on my Diverge and that shifts perfect every time. I'm thinking it's because the CruX BB shell flexes so damn much coupled with the 1 extra tooth of difference. I need to try a proper GRX crank.
I don't have a Crux but I had the same shifting issue as you. On half of the shifts to the big ring the chain grinds for half of revolution before it finally catches. On a stock GRX crank the shifting is perfect. I returned the PM for a refund. As soon as P2M came out with a revised PM that takes stock GRX rings I bought one, and shifting has been as good as the stock GRX crank. There's something weird going on with the Rotor 1-piece machined 48/31 ring. This explains why P2M decided to redesign the PM so it can take the stock GRX rings. I believe the previous version was a PM they took from the MTB line. Did you try the 46/30 ring on the Crux?

Here's the new GRX PM that I bought: https://www.power2max.com/en/2022/10/po ... r2max-g-x/

Nice, but wrong frame size. Stem to long and to much spacer. Size 56 would look much better.

I'm not who you're criticizing but my 120 stem feels just fine on my Crux, thanks for your pointless insight.

You might be right, but if a long stem and 30+mm spacer are needed the geometry seems to be wrong.

Definitely true. The tower of spacers looks scary.

I test rode the 56cm Crux and hated it. Felt big, bulky and cumbersome; just like my Grail. Did a ton of research on geometry and made comparison spreadsheets with all of the fits I've had on road and cross bikes to come up with this fit. For me, it's perfect.

My Dogma F8 road bike is a 57.5cm size with 120mm stem (longer bike allows me to get more aero while the sharp road geometry still feels snappy and responsive) and my Felt TT bike a 58cm size with 90mm stem (1036mm wheelbase; feels stable and easy to control in heavy crosswinds). Previous road bike was a Cannondale Caad9 56cm with a 110mm stem and it feels about right for what I wanted in a gravel fit, but with slightly longer reach and narrower bars for the gravel bike. Overall, the 1023mm wheelbase of the 54cm bike is only 10mm shorter than the 1033mm of the 56cm bike (and 6mm shorter than the Medium Grail); but along with the 120mm stem, the handling feels so much sharper and intuitive for me. No more making tons of minor corrections when trying to hold a tight gravel line along the twisty, narrow and loose gravel paths I ride daily.

Edit: also the 54cm size has the advantage of more seat post flex for more comfort; and while it's a very comfortable fit at 30mm spacers, I do want the option to go lower in the future.

It's not spacers underneath the stem that is dangerous for a carbon steerer tube; it's spacers over the stem. I may go lower in the future. I definitely wanted that option. But right now it fits exactly as I wanted it to.

Edit: this stack is an exact match for what I've had on my 56cm Caad9 road bike and on my Medium Canyon Grail that was slammed as low as it could go. I did not want to cut the steerer tube down and find out my pedaling was too cramped when in an aero hood/drops position.

What? You don't fit your bike exactly as the internet tells you? :beerchug:

Typically pedals are part of bike weight so closer to 17lbs. Not really like a seatbag that you can get by without.

I agree. Basically 17.4lbs is total bike weight without the flat kit. I do a sub-total just for myself to compare with the weights bike manufacturers state. My goal was to get as close to the 16lbs stated weight of the S-Works as I could for half the cost, and I think I did pretty good at that. I've been considering just throwing the plug kit and Co2 in a ziplock bag to put in a pocket for longer rides. I've yet to have a puncture on MTB or gravel that sealant didn't seal.

Also, considering that quarq power meter spindle so that I can run lighter pedals. Should be able to shave over 100g with that.
