I havn't used 650B, but I was pushing the limits of 29er tires. I used 2.0 in Conti RaceKing to fit on 25 internal wheels, but that is really the limit width wide. The tire hairs were rubbing on the frame in the rear, so I had to cut them off to get them to fit. I wouldn't want to ride it with that setup in anything but dry conditions.

Shouldn't they be an issue with diameter rather than width? 2.0 on 700c 0.1 inches wider than what the bike is rated for.
Cervelo P5 Disc (2021) 9.1kg
Factor Ostro Gravel (2023) 8.0kg
S-Works SL8 (2023) 6.3kg

*weights are race ready, size 58/L.

Hello everyone, this thread is the main reason I joined this forum, as it is the one where I found the most valuable info about the Crux.

Recently acquired one, not really a weight weenie build, since it's all the components I had in my previous gravel -not heavy either-, but will upgrade it gradually. It's on 8,2kg in size 54 as shown. Looking forward to getting new ideas on this forum.

GRX Di2 48/31 chainrings and 11/36 cassette.

I'm currently looking for new tires, not sure what to get between Ultradynamico Cava (maybe combined with Ultradynamico Rose in the front, or 2xCava), Specialized Pathfinder or Panaracer Gravelking SK, any other idea is welcome. Something between 42-45mm and fast rolling in dry conditions.

Greetings from Spain!

There are faster tires than the ones you named (Schwalbe G-One RS, Conti TerraSpeed, Tufo Thundero/ Speedero, Challenge Getaway). They all have their advantages and disadvantages. Of the ones you named I only know the Spesh Pathfinder Pro. It is heavy af, but besides that, it's the best tire I know when it's not super muddy. It rolls fast (empirically proven and subjectively), it grips very well in corners with its high knobs, and the added weight makes it really puncture proof. Probably the tire I'd choose for may A+ event.

For tires, I am running Rene Herse nobby Hurricane ridge 42mm in front and an almost slick Barlow Pass 38 in the back. Both tires have the same carcass and the Barlow in the back blows up to 42mm. Quick and grippy combo that is.

I put them on just to see if it would work, diameter actually wasn't the issue surprisingly. It is the width that is the biggest concern with large tires in my case, thats why I don't think a 2.2 in RaceKing will fit without rubbing on the seat/chainstays.

Has anyone tested the limits of 650b (27.5") tire clearance? I know it's officially rated at 2.1"/52.5mm, but oftentimes, there is room to spare.
I am contemplating using it as hard tail (and hard fork) type bike for alpine gravel riding. In the Alps it can get rocky, loose and steep, and something like the Conti RaceKing in 2.2" would possibly be a good choice.
Wouldn't an Epic hardtail be a better choice here? They're discontinuing it for 2024, get one while you can!

Probably it would be for this particular case.
However, I'd have to buy a new €10k bike for that, and instead I can buy €60 worth of tires to get me... say 60% of the way there.

2.1 Rocket Ron in the rear, if RaceKing doesn't fit.
Same up front, or a Conti CrossKing Racesport 2.2.
Curve Grovel ti.

That looks nasty... whatever the cause was, fortunately it happened before the start and not during the race.

Hi guys! Quick question: did anyone try the new Crux on a Tacx Neo 2T trainer to see if there are any clearance issue with the rear brake caliper? Thanks!
