With some cheaper DT Swiss wheels made for Cervélo with carbon mid profile like the GRC 1400 but with the heavier 350 hubs instead of the 240 I suppose. Maybe also with other spokes etc...

That burgundy Aspero is dreamy and I can see it happening if I spot the Apex model on sale sometime. Loving the Topstone at the moment but it's a touch too relaxed for me. The 40x11 top end is rubbish for my intents though. I had to stick a 50/34 on the Topstone Sora as I use it on the road loads for an all round training tool too. Is there a cassette with a 9t cog on it that could be used with the Apex model?

Cervelo are pushing the race aspect of the bike, 'haul ass not cargo' which is sort of a shame. Couldn't have been that much harder to get a couple of extra mounting options on there. I really want a do it all bike, but a fast and sexy one. Topstone is super practical, but lacks sex appeal.

1x options don't offer 1:1 but the 2x options take you beyond the 1:1 ratio. I guess it depends on how you're looking at it unless I'm not following.

I've asked my lbs to get a frameset in for me. If you get yours, I'd be curious to read a review.

I only looked at the Force AXS version - 36:32 isn't really great for the kind of gravel riding I do. Some of the other builds offer better gearing, true.

1x: 44T

Cervélo Áspero - 8.28kg
Trek Madone SLR Rim - 7.73kg
Standert Triebwerk Disc - 8.47kg

Call me dumb, but confused as to why it's a 44T max for a 1x setup?

I run 46/48T on my Focus since it doubled up as my bad weather road bike too.

Saying that, I can see why not many would want to go over 44T if using primarily off-road.

When you push the chainstays out for tire clearance but also keep the chainstay relatively short, it's going to affect max chainring size.
