No way that Merida would do that. They're one of the biggest manufacturers in the world.
It would be far more odd for them to independently copy most of its features ...
Most of its features?! It has dropped seat stays the wrap around the seat tube...in a different location. Nothing else is the same, look at the fork, top tube, rear triangle...
The only difference is the fork. The dropped seat stays wrap around the seat tube in the same location and shape, TT is the same, rear triangle is the same. The biggest telltale is that the rear dropout is identical, and it uses exactly the same teardrop insert as the 707 and FlyBike use in many bikes - Merida inserts all look different to this. I assume you're thinking of the 696.
The seat clamp cluster is much shorter than on any 707s I have seen. The rear triangle also looks slightly different at the dropout, with a longer "vertical" section.

Overlaid for better comparison:
- Seat cluster is much taller on 707
- Rear drop out is rounded on 707
- Cable exit port locations differ

It is not... and the overlay helps prove this. Mohoric is also 1.86m tall so it's not like the difference would be due to it being small frame

As far as I know the only open mold to offer downtube storage so far is the lightcarbon LCG073

I have one, and it definitely is a Tantan GR029. I have it built up for cross, excellent frameset!
Can you share some more experience with this frame?
How is the weight and stiffness? Have you ridden it in a "road setup"?

If anyone else has a Tantan GR029 frame, feel free to share as well :)
Only used it as a cyclocross bike but I must say I've been very pleased with it. It's pretty stiff and responsive but at around 1100g grams it's not the lightest although that does include a threaded BB which is very useful.THat siad I was still able to build up into a 7.7kgs bike with GRX810 1x and a Stans Grail MK3 wheelset. I'm usually build my own wheels so I'm currently in the process of building a set of carbon hoops that should bring the weight down to about 7.3kgs.

Details on the new Silex are on bikerumor.com. very different geometry figures to the 707. As mentioned, different bike, even if it shares visual language.

I just wanted to encourage you to consider a frame with BB86. The frame you're looking for doesn't really exist. I have had a very good experience with pairing a token thread-together BB on a lightcarbon BB86 frame, despite the frame having relatively crappy BB finishing. The thread-together BB offers all the convenience of a threaded BB and better alignment than press-fit.

What you think about FM-R898 and FM-R898HE geo? It is advertised as both cx and gravel, bb options BSA/T47/BB30.
Both models have CX specific chainstay 425 mm, 70 mm BB drop, and trail.
Other geo specs are different and size options are different: FM-R898 44,48,50,53,56 vs FM-R898HE 44,48,50,55,58.
