Good looking bike. The cheaper variant seems to offer the best value indeed.
Make sure you get the cable routing soted out though. Cause his is what bikerumor found hidden behind the headset spacers. Looks pretty scary to me.

That looks horrific! Looks like those thin metal spacers (what are they even for?) are cutting in to the hoses. I'd consider that a major safety concern.
It is appaling how the reviewer just skimmed over the cable routing situation. That is a disaster waiting to happen.

Those are microspacer to adjust your frame - headset cover gap. The guy, who built that up, better used some electrical tape to fix those hoses to the (D-shaped?!) steerer... The microspacers shouldn't be a problem at all. One should just make sure the hoses stay in place and do not move around when steering.

IIRC Ridley frames are made by Flybike/Carbonda, maybe they sell the frame OEM.

Regular ASTR frame is 2300 eur, quite reasonable. but you have to pay 400 eur more for custom color and 325 eur for integrated cockpit. 3025 eur for frame+fork+cockpit without seatpost. Not cheap at all.
But there are not much aero gravel bikes with 47-52mm clearence. Ostro gravel and enve mog is close to 10k

Ostro only goes to 45mm.

For the ASTR you don't need to paint it and you don't need to buy their cockpit. Many options for 150-200€.

at this moment frame is not in stock, you can only order it through configurator page, which automatically adds 400-500 eur for custom color. So it is either to order frame for 2700 eur, or buy complete build with crappy components on grx 600 for 3200 eur. https://www.ridley-bikes.com/nl_NL/bikes/SBIASTRID083
Which is kinda expensive considering new 2025 cube nuroad costs 3500 eur https://www.cubestores.nl/products/cube ... 8064&_ss=c on grx di2 2by and good set of carbon wheels. BTW cube nuroad with new red xplr 13 speed costs only 6000 eur.
Yes, cube nuroad is less agressive bike, but it has unbitteble value for the money and can fit 50mm tyres with two-by

Yeah but would you want to ride that bike?

I don't. For Ridley, I talked to them and you can also order unpainted frames via a Ridley dealer.

I really like basic frame colors (black one with gold decals and especially orange one, so don`t need to spend extra on custom colour. btw i have redley dealer near by me, gonna ask him later this week about options.

Can you ask about a way to fit normal 27.2 seatpost in the RS frame (via a sleeve or something?) I sent an email to Ridley but it's gone unanswered.

Haven't seen any unpainted but know dealers can order the Astr frameset in the regular colours too, just not shown on the website for consumers.

spoke to Redley dealer yesterday. Indeed, its possible to order frame in basic colours without having to pay extra 400-500 eur for custom paintwork. Frame gonna be deliverd before christmas.
It is not possible to test Astr in the wild. Around january dealers will get showroom models, but again, no test riding option availible.
About tire clearence it is unclear that 50mm tires will fit with 2-by built, probably not.

I really like Astr and it is always nice to have official dealer nearby, but lack of internal storage, fender mounts and only 47mm clearence in 2-by is big no go for me, also considering that frame cost 2300 eur even without seatpost

Test ride or not depends on dealer I would say.

why not? i wanna use my gravel bike not only for races, but also for commute / long rides in wet conditions. Canyon Grail is also race bike, but has fender mounts and frame storage.

I had a conversation with a Ridley dealer. The bare frame (unpainted, no handlebar etc) will cost:

ASTR RS: EUR 4099
ASTR (non-RS): EUR 1949

Pretty easy choice right? Non-RS version seems like the much better deal. According to Ridley it only is 90grams heavier. I suspect it might be a little less stiff due to the different layout, but that would actually be better for most non-professional riders.
