Frame with hardware but without thru axle was ~1100-something (as I recall). Lighter than my Checkpoint, heavier than my Crux.

Hey guys,

happy to present my new Mog. Custom painted with the inspiration of a Land Rover defender as a full do it all bike.
Laced up with 3.4 ARs with CK hubs and a 1x 42T-10/52. Already raced it here and was really impressive to see how the bike handles and how stable & fast it can be compared with my old 3T exploro.

Hey mogmog - digging this back out.
Do you mind comparing the gravel capabilities of the two bikes a bit further?
I'm also looking to make my Racemax an AR bike and thinking about adding a proper gravel machine next to it. N+1.

Wondering if the mog with 48mm tyres could live up to that - or if it's a too stiff racy gravel bike (again) which wouldn't handle my sketchy alpine single track terrain very well.

Thanks!
(Obviously feel free to add insight everyone else)

Done a couple of rides with my new MOG. Built with Red XPLR 1x13, Zipp 303 XPLR SW, Schwalbe G-One RS 45mm, Enve AR bar. Might just be my favorite gravel bike right now: fast, comfortable, handles nicely. I also have an S-Works Crux, S-Works Diverge STR, Ridley Kanzo Fast and 3T Exploro Racemax on my fleet.

Will post a more thorogh review once I've got some more rides with it.

It may be a dull question, but is the MOG meant to be ridden with a short or with a long stem ?
I am 175 cm ("long" legs, short torso) and as usual uncertain if I should go for 52 or 54. Got a really good offer atm ...
My Factor Ostro in 52 fits perfectly.

I compared the geomerty with my current gravelbike and I would need a 1cm shorter stem.

Do you know of a source for colored plugs for the mounting holes on the fork? I have a sand colored frame and would like to conceal the black dots on the fork legs.

I opted for some Ti set screws. A little dab of blue to keep them in place and they sit flush with the mounting holes. I was disappointed to realize that the way Enve made the frame they protrude from the surface of the frame rather than be totally flush. Not a big deal and if there were anything mounted to these holes it would be a good thing to keep the mounted object (cage/rack/bag/whatever) from rubbing the frame, but with nothing mounted it looks a bit dodgy.

I forgot to weigh the stock bolts to compare to the set screws but I'm sure it saved some grams to appease the WW gods.

Has anyone else experienced a rattling/knocking sound when riding over chunky rough stuff? At first, I thought it might be a loose headset or the chain. Through a process of elimination, I was able to isolate the sound to the storage hatch cover. It only occurs when a full bottle is in the cage mounted to the cover. It happens with or without items stored inside the frame. I have not yet engaged Enve.

Is anyone running a 2x12 SRAM Red E1 groupset (with 33/46) on your Mog? Any clearance issues with front derailleur?

A lot of adjustments and trial and error and it turned out to be the Silca Ti cages. With a full bottle I guess they flex enough to knock against the frame. Kind of makes sense in hindsight, I pulled them from my SL7 last year because they kept ejecting bottles over rough sections of road. --- Swapped them out for some Enve composite cages and the issue is resolved. Now I just hear the chain flopping around over the chunky stuff like one would expect when you ride the wrong bike for the conditions...errr.... I mean ride a gravel bike. :)

EDIT:

I was trying to figure out how to improve chain line and which pm to use.

I have an Easton Road spindle, Sigeyi Axo Boost pm, and absoluteblack chainring. The resulting chain line is approx 48. I had heard that clearance can be a problem, but there is plenty of clearance between the PM and the frame. Success.
