Yeah, I have skimmed that topic and the few users that have the bike seem very positive about it. On the website of Tideace I cannot find the frame though?MrRolandos wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:06 amChinertown has a whole topic on it : https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4724.75.html
Seems pretty solid.

gotta say i'm impressed with the value for money, frameset looks very cool!
shame the rear brake needs an adapter for 160mm, but overall it's very tempting
edit: geometry might be way too racy, it has a huge reach and hyper long top tube + slack seat tube... size 54 has a 570mm toptube!

Just built it up but super happy with it. Much lighter than I anticipated although I did swap the stem, seatpost and saddle from stock. Just need to set up tires tubeless and put on the Pathfinder Pros and cut the steerer but this is basically it. At 185 the size M is perfect and similar geo to my road bikes.

Looks nice! That's a long stem for off-road, so I'll be curious about the ride report.
According to Lauf for size M (and feels about right):spdntrxi wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:28 pmlooks nice.. what was the frame weight by chanceMarkoP wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 12:49 pmJust built it up but super happy with it. Seigla Medium frame, Obsidian Black, with seat-clamp, thick rubber chainstay protector and all bottle cage screws = 1163g.

Lol yeah well my off road is probably different than most in this thread...I'm really going to be using this for a mix of road and light gravel (fire roads, trails etc. but nothing gnarly or single track.)twoangstroms wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:16 pmLooks nice! Also, it came with a short stem - looks to be about 90 and I only had this one lying around so between the two I went with the lighter 130. I'll ride it a bit and see but perhaps 120 will be better.

Basically a Canyon Grail copy. I've got one on the way, but copying a design (and slightly changing it) is hardly... boutique.
True, but it seems I'm pivoting a bit because there aren't any boutique frame (which meet my requirements) that I like enough. So it seems I'm also starting to consider an alternative route: budget solution.raisinberry777 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:11 amBasically a Canyon Grail copy. The Grail copy doesn't work for me as it does not fit 2.1 tires. So I'm mostly thinking about the Tideace GV 201 now. 750€ for a frame with UDH, internal storage and 50mm clearance is a bargain. Could built that bike for 2500-3000€.
It's either going to be that, or the Backroad FF with red 13....
I think we have thrown the "boutique" out the window with the bikes being suggustedraisinberry777 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:11 amBasically a Canyon Grail copy. I've got one on the way, but copying a design (and slightly changing it) is hardly... boutique.

To be fair to the boutique manufacturers, the MTB tyre trend which has been around the last few months has taken all manufacturers by surprise. Look at Trek, the Checkmate appears to be basically obsolete as soon as it was released.
Big tyres will always compromise geometry to a degree so they can fit in a frame. It appears that until recently "racy" meant having a similar position to the road and taking aerodynamics into account, both things that big tyres affect.
It takes years for a bike to get from the drawing board to the market and I bet all the manufacturers are busy designing racy gravel bikes with larger clearances right now. Who knows what will be the current gravel trends in 2027?
