I am afraid that is not doing anything on ultegra 12s.

I might switch to sram 1x12 as a safer option for crux.

I gave up running ultegra, having inner chainring too close to chainstay and getting chainslaps, and pulled the trigger on force d2 xplr for a good price, so i rebuilt the bike yesterday. (cassette is still ultegra, until i receive xdr driver body for the xplr cassette).

Ergonomy of Force D2 hoods is really poor compared to ultegra ones, reach is too far, and brakes are not good as ultegra ones, but 1x12 shifting suits my gravel/cx riding style much better.

2025 Crux Expert. I like this colourway. I was thinking of buying this and upgrading to the new XPLR 13sp Red Groupset (Cassette, deraileur, crank, shifters/brakes). I'm not as familiar with SRAM since I'm a lifelong Shimano rider but I'm becoming more convinced that it is the way to go for gravel at least.

Any reason not to upgrade this bike from Rival to the newest Red XPLR? I would also look at changing the bars and maybe upgrade the wheels later on.

Also, I already have the Assioma Pro MX2 pedals. I'm wondering if there are any advantages to getting the Red Power Crank or just the non-power crankset. Anyways, I'm new to gravel and SRAM so I'm looking for any advice here or if there is something i'm missing. Thanks

crux comp or crux frameset are cheaper options for as a base for eventual upgrade.

always calculate by frameset price, i was considering crux expert too, but if you deduct market price of wheelset, groupset, etc, the cost of frameset itself is much higher than comp or frameset.

I would much prefer to buy just the frameset and build from scratch. The problem is two-fold. The only frameset on the .ca website is the S-works which cost more than the entire expert bike. This particular 2025 s-work frameset colourway I find to be ugly and would not consider buying it. I do not see non s-work framesets available on the .ca website. I particularly like the white 2025 expert frame colour and the other colours available I do not like that much. But I agree, much more optimal to go with the frameset and build from there. That would be my preference.

I love my Crux Expert. The Rival XPLR 1x12 groupset has been flawless. I did change out the 172.5 Rival crank for 170 Force crank. I run 170 cranks on all my bikes.

Thanks. I have little doubt I would also love it as is. It's always when you are sitting in front of the computer that you start thinking about changing things and making it lighter but when actually riding, the thought never occurs haha. Do you have a power meter? I recently got the Assioma MX2 pedals and am using them on my mountain bike. I think I would just transfer them to the gravel bike if I got it. That would take care of the power meter.

2024 Crux without UHD hanger is currently on sale in a paintjob that I like. I was thinking of grabbing a gravel bike for some time.

I am missing something by not having UHD that newer model has? Is that the only change? Doubt that I would at any time use new 13 speed AXS groupset...

I had the same dilemma.
But i chose a futureproof solution.
There is this RIDE5DEV company which made few UDH mod hangers, but they are not producing them anymore, I think they were threatened by SRAM or so.
I don't see anything new on new Crux.

Specialized states it clears 2.1 in 650B. For 700, I've seen people using the 2.0 racekings with minimal clearance (3-4 mm depending on inner rim widths). 2.1 is unlikely to fit with enough clearance for safe riding.

Finally got my 2x conversion done

Sram Red XPLR crank
Force Quarq 46/33 DM chainring
Rival Wide FD
Force D1 RD

Zipp 303FC wheels with Red 10-33 cassette

with 42mm pafthfinder s-works tires (45mm WAM) i have a few MM of space left and i think i could get away with terra speed 45s but not 47s because they'd probably end up too close to 50mm

IF you are in Toronto, or I am sure there are others in other provinces. Open a CrossborderPickups Account.
Call a bunch of stores in the US and order the US frame you want , have them ship it to CrossBorder in Buffalo NY (I used Bike Flights)
You get a warranty and options that Canada does not get, and it will cost less than buying in Canada. Let's say you can "use" any price you want to declare on the Cross border pickups site when declaring the item.

I am a Shimano guy, so I always tend to buy just the framesets.

Not that this was a thought when I got the frame. I recently had a warranty claim, as they only sell S-works frames in Canada, my Pro frame was replaced with a Sworks frame. Specialized Canada has amazing customer service on the warranty front.

Quick questions:
1) I (1,78m, 84 cm) just ordered a Crux in 54. My Tarmac, 54, fits perfect. Crux in 54 should be fine, i hope.

2) It's the 2023 frame with the old RD hanger. I do not Intend to use mtb Cassettes, neither use 13s. Any disadvantages without new udh?

3) According to Spec normal cranks fit with a max 42 chainring. What is the max tire clearance with a non wide crank?
