I have this SRAM Red 1x power meter crankset on my gravel bike. I know SRAM doesn't offer and chainrings smaller than 36T for this crankset. Is anyone aware of an aftermarket solution that goes smaller?

Considering you will have to replace the power meter anyway (the chainring is non-removable), you can go as small as you'd like. If a road chainring isn't small enough you could put on an MTB power meter and chainring. The XX SL power meter fits rings down to 32T.

Hi Mayhem,

The ring is replaceable. I realize that link is confusing as the defeault photo is of the 48/50T version, which is fully integrated. The other photos show the version that uses a replaceable ring. It's a 4 bolt configuration.

Well, as far as I can tell you'd still need to replace the power meter, as there are no smaller chainrings than 36T available for 4x107 mm BCD. Don't quite understand why as there is a 2x set using 46-33T so certainly 34T should be possible.

My best guess for why SRAM wouldn't do it is that with the teeth offset over the spider tabs, to ensure the proper chainline, there may be a materials thickness issue? But you'd think some adventurous third party would do it anyway by either not offseting the teeth or accepting potentially poor durability…

I guess I'll pay the $100 to find out if the 36T works for me and then go from there?

You can get 34t N/W chainring for those cranks from Aliexpress
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EHV0z9L

It has no offset (as it's on the BCD107 limit), so you won't be able to get the middle-chainline position, but if you are fine with that it should work fine!

There are few options from Pass Quest and Stone on AliExpress. I have chainrings from both of those companies and have only good things to say.
