Colnago v4rs & bianchi new specialissima, your choice is?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi guys.
It s time for a new bike and i am doing so happy consideration between colnago v4rs and bianchi specialissima.
Both bikes adapt aero concept to all-round bike.
I think aerodynamic in all-round bike is marginal gain, and from that point i think bianchi is more aero than colnago and way much lighter.
On the other hand, I also think that "are those aerodynamic and weight is considarably different ? are there big gap between those two bikes especially in all-round bike category?"
I wonder your opinions.
Thank you:)

Honestly, this is one decision which comes down to which bike you rather buy. I don't think you can say one is right and one is wrong. This must be a highly personal decision. You should perhaps look at trail numbers (how fast do you want the bike to steer).Tomandtom wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:57 amHi guys.

I guess stack and reach is pretty similar between these two models. Maybe tire clearance is of importance to you and maybe one handles wider than the other?
What BB standard is it? Is it important to you? Bianchi might be lighter, does that matter to you?
Finish (paint job options), relevant or less so?

A friend has the Specialissima in Celeste. It looks amazing. The paint is dazzling in the sun light. He says he loves the ride too. Doesn't everybody love the ride of their expensive Italian bike?

I really dont wanna offend any Bianchi lovers as this one is personal taste.... to my eyes the latest frame releases including current Oltre and also the newest Specialissima are just painful to look at. Those tube shapes are a nogo for me and the paintjobs are unattractive too.
Colnago all the way on this one. With a good choice of components it will be light and aero enough for most.

Bianchi has it's own design and you may like it for this. V4RS is more conservative but it has serious qualities.
When you consider an all-round bicycle, the BB choice may be important.
V4RS has a T45 threaded that is converted in BB86.
Bianchi has a BB86.
If you use the Colnago converter for Shimano, I'd say it's better to use the Bianchi that is a true BB86.
BUT
if you consider that T45 can be used with a T45 BB, it's changing everything because you have a directmount BB that is offering similar choices and performances to the BSA and T47. Then you can get the best from 30mm cranks.
So, my choice would be Bianchi with a Shimano crankset, and Conalgo if you want a better crankset.

Colnago because auf Tadej!
If something like the Bianchi then I would take a S5.

My understanding is that he isn't keen on the bike, particularly the stiffness. He doesn't chose this brand.B0tt0mline wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 2:59 pmColnago because auf Tadej!

I happen to have both.
Both are extremely nice. I have similar components on each although the V4rs has a darimo post. They are almost exactly the same weight as shown. If I put the hyperons on the v4rs it would be a tiny bit lighter even.
Hard to tell an aero difference even at 25+
Biggest differences for me are in handling. The v4rs is a bit longer, lower bb and more trail with a steeper sta. deinitely more stable although the wheelbase is close to the same. The handling on the bianchi is a bit quicker and more in line with some other brands although the sta is a little slacker and with a 20mm offset post it required some work to get the seat right for me. So really which ever one suits you. Styling and colors options are probably the biggest differences (the performance of the two is that close) so pick whichever speaks to you. They are both amazing machines

According to this article, rake of the colnage fork is 43 mm over all sizes (no different rakes, like other sophisticated manufacturers offer nowadays). So, considering the htas, the steering mutates from very slow in small sizes to considerably quick in big sizes. For me, needing a smaller size, handling would be to sluggish (I had the same "problem" with my izalco max gen1-changed the fork!), but this is a matter of taste for shure.
Aesthetically, i like the Colnago a lot!
