On one bike, after breaking one of the Red eTap 11-speed shifters in a crash, I'm using a replacement set of Force AXS shifters with the eTap 11-speed derailleurs and 11-speed cassette/chain. Current AXS shifter firmware for the Red and Force shifters makes them backwards compatible with the 11-speed components.
I'm wondering, if I want to move to 12-speed, will the 11-speed FD work with an AXS RD (I don't intend to change the crank or chainrings), or do I need an AXS FD as well?
eTap 11/12 speed mix?

No, the 11-speed FD will not pair with an AXS RD, so you'll need an AXS FD too. The Rival FD works well and is good value though. You might get better luck with your 11-speed chainrings and crank with AXS, as my old Red 22 Exogram chainset and rings shifts really well with an AXS chain and derailleurs. I'd go as far as saying that the Red 11-speed rings shift better than my 12-speed Praxis Buzz on the same crank.
