The horror... it even looks damaged, not only scratched. I don't want to put more fuel into this fire but if this was supposed to be a new bike bought directly from Canyon and not some outlet, b-stock or whatever discounted bike, then I wouldn't even start a discussion with Canyon but send it back.

It's very simple.. You have 30 days to send it back. If you don't agree with the offer they proposed then you just send it back and order a new one.

There's no point trying to argue with them. They offer returns so you just send it back and buy a new one if they don't offer you the option immediately.

Yeah it'll have to go back. No more in stock and partly funded with Bike to work scheme so it's a real pain maybe they can exchange for a slightly different model or something. Thanks for the help everyone

Mapdec is a UK bike shop: https://mapdec.com/

However, I wouldn't go down that route.

First, I would tell Canyon, in writing, that you are rejecting the bike.

If you paid by credit card, or paypal, you might consider opening a chargeback case or a dispute.

If you are in the UK, you can state that you are doing so in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act, insofar that the goods are not of satisfactory quality. The law is on your side but you may need to be persistent.

Look up 'consumer rights' as you have protection by law if goods are received damage. I wouldn't accept anything less than full replacement and paid for pick up/shipping of that frame to return. The only effort you should make is re-packing.

They've now offered to let me keep riding the frame until a replacement is available March/April and then will swap frame at a local service partner so I'm happy enough with that solution to be fair to them. Should only take a few days once frames available. Was worth getting back to them, thanks for the advice

You can send it back right? Problem might then be to get a new one as it is not in stock?

Yeah they said I can return it but I'm happy to get replacement frame and they will get groupset etc transferred over. Means I'm not without the bike for 2+ months.

I'd return the thing and find another brand. But I don't tend to tolerate this kind of BS.

If they were incompetent enough to send you this thing in the first instance
If they were cheeky enough to offer you a middle finger by way of a measly sum to get it "touched up"

I'd have no faith in the quality of any replacement frame.

Plus, once your 30 day right to reject has expired, they've got you by the short and curly's. They'll kick the can down the road and offer up excuses, because they will prioritise new sales rather than warranties, and 2 months will turn into 6 and you'll be lucky to get a new bike on the road before winter roles around again.

Hit the eject button and go buy a Giant: lifetime warranty, you can see it before accepting it, and (IMHO) the frames are better quality to start with.

I have a giant as a cx bike and specialissima for road and agree they probably are better made (certainly better QC) but as I'm using bike to work scheme as part payment and deductions started it's a mess trying to get refund so I'm happy with replacement. Kept all correspondence so hopefully won't get messed around. Probably wouldn't go with canyon for a high end road frame though
