Elilee Blize XXE 680g Disc Frame 330g Fork
Moderator: robbosmans
You have a point there, Micky!
So let's get down to business. This is the standard Blize model, not the lighter XXE. To my complete surprise, the frame is not black gloss but bare carbon, probably with a thin layer of matte clearcoat. Which made me extremely happy when I first saw it since I don't have to remove the paint. Decals are over the clearcoat. I don't think they will last long in harsh environments anyway.
This is what's included:
If you are interested, please check what bar/stem is provided. EXS Aerover is not standard.
Frame size S including front derailleur hanger (blind rivets, not bolts) and chainstay protection shield: 772g (advertised bare size S frame weight without paint: 780g)
Fork, uncut: 349g
EXS Aerover 360 / 110mm with OD2 sleeve, top cap and bolt: 334g (bar/stem alone 308g, sleeve 14g, top cap including bolt 12g)
Seatpost: 154g including metal inserts (350mm)
Headset: 47g
Thru Axles: 62g
Rear Derailleur Hanger: 17g
EXS expander: 17g
Compression ring: 4g (3D printed)
Bearing cap: 14g (3D printed)
Intermediate spacer: 6g (3D printed)
Garmin mount including bolts: 34g (3D printed)
Seatclamp: 20g
The rear derailleur hanger and frame mounting spot was Teflon greased from the factory. Caliper mounts are faced and clean. The seatclamp is a bit unusual, it consists of a mounting plate with two torx bolts and a seatpost guide between seatpost and the mounting plate. The guide is rough like a file or 100 grit sandpaper. Internally, the frame looks very clean, I suppose it is EPS molded.
The decals look a bit like an afterthought. The one on the seattube is probably inspired by Specialized's "Tarmac" but with the two holes for the seatclamp, the Blize decal is incomplete. Also the decal on the seatstays does look a bit out of place. Headtube logo is just the Elilee logo turned 90°. All good reasons to remove these decals and go for customization.
It will take some time until the bike is built. The frame needs a bit of paint but not sure what I will go for this time. Groupset is a mix of DA and Ultegra 12s, Galfer rotors, Red DUB cranks, Quarq Dfour PM and 45mm Farsports wheels. Should be around 6.7kg including pedals, bottle cages and Garmin mount.

My traditional 380-110 is ca. 311g. It also came with a plastic 31.8-28.6 sleeve and an alu one. The plastic one is only 4g, saving the holy 8g for this small part.
P.S. I have also designed a ww gps mount for them, just 9.8g printed w/o garmin insert, but 50% stronger than the original one in FEA. It's under alpha test now.

I have these parts laying around. I haven't checked if they fit yet but I think they won't just by eyeballing it. But it is close and an interesting question for sure.StiffWeenies wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 2:25 pmIf you have an OEM SL7 headset cover/bearing cap lying around (e.g. the ones here on the right), could you please try fitting it on the Blize?
Alanyu, if your mount is shorter than the one from EXS, then I'm already interested in buying one when the tests are completed successfully.

Can you measure the stack height of the bearing cap and intermediate spacer?
