Elilee Blize XXE 680g Disc Frame 330g Fork

Inside looks WAY cleaner on this than earlier samples. Hopefully they got the message after the bad ones and then their disastrous initial response.DA7800 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 2:22 pmMore details to come as I build it up
Received my frameset this week. The Australian distributor has been great, I've been confident the product would be good or I would be supported. From a first look over I'm happy with the product. I'm not an expert but there's good consistent material and finish around bearing interfaces and the BB/brakes have been faced. Slightly uneven/messy finish on the fork dropout for full disclosure, but I don't think it's an issue. No complaints from me really, it's a nice looking frame.
Size L XXE with a 38x90 cockpit. I could have fit on an M but this is how my fit works out with 9200 levers and a slammed stem.
Frame weight is with hangers and stickers. I removed the "BLIZE 01" (ugly) and UCI (crooked) stickers and saved 0.7g . Frame and fork weight is pretty good, on par with a painted SL8, or ~50g heavier than the lightest Sworks in RTP. Seatpost is pretty good too. Handlebar was a bit heavier than I was expecting for the 38x90 but still reasonable. I've ordered an Avian cockpit because I personally wasn't satisfied with the blize cockpit weight.
Frame: 791.8g with hardware
Fork: 363.6g uncut
Seatpost: 156.0g with 7x9 clamp
Bars: 320g bare, 327.2 with bolts
Mount: 26.2g without bolts or GoPro adapter

Slight update, J&L axles arrived and saved 15g or so. Redid the sealant on both tyres. It's now sitting at 6.46kg with pedals and cages.
I remembered I am also running a steel headset cap bolt because of the length I needed for the extra steerer. Plus I have a extralite ultrastar to go in when the avian cockpit arrives, so I'm forecasting low 6.3s with those changes.

nice work thats pretty damn light. what is the total cost of your build ?

Hard to say exactly as it's an incremental build that I had on an izalco max that I did a frame set swap with for a lighter build and different geometry.
The wheels cost me about AU$2500 and the frameset was AU$4000+shipping. The rest is probably easy to calculate value as it's all standard parts. I bought a lot of it second hand.
Would probably cost about AU$12500 to build the same including all the little bits. I spent a bit less with used bits etc.
So in the region of US$8200 to build I guess.
Beautiful!DA7800 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:17 amInitial build completed and had my first ride today. Everything went together easily. Genuinely seems like Elilee really thought about the design. All of the small parts are clever and seem like they've been selected with care. People who saw my frame before I built it were impressed with the quality and internal finish that could be seen. The carbon looked very "dry", like there isn't excess resin that's pooled up in folds etc.
Built it up myself, specs below. Have ordered lighter axles and cockpit and will trim the steerer to suit the new bar. Weight with pedals, cages, and front mount is 6510g. So that's ~ 6250g by weightweenie standard measurement protocol. Not bad for a 56cm frame with fat tyres and big gears.
XXE frameset size L
XXE cockpit 38x90 w/ standard mount
DA 9200 groupset
DA 9200 11-34 cassette
Quarq D-four with D1 172.5mm arms

Aita ceramic BB386-dub BB
Dura ace 9100 pedals (standard Q)
Selle Italia SLR Boost Tekno SuperFlow Saddle (L)
Car wiring wrap with regular tape only under hoods
L05a finned pads
AliExpress 7g cages with Ti bolts
Apple airtag concealed in frame
Wheels (built by me), 1162g wheels without rim tape
Light bicycle WR50 falcon pro flyweight hookless (50Dx32Wx25i)
Extralite spd3 hubs
Galfer wave 6b rotors 160F/140R
Risk titanium rotor bolts
Carbon spokes 2.0x2.3mm with Ti ends
Alloy nipples
Mucoff rim tape
30mm GP5000sTR rear
28mm GP5000TT front
Liberal orange seal endurance, will redo with less later
Mucoff 60mm valves and caps
Expecting to be in the complete 6.3s with new bars etc. Also eventually building a similar set of wheels with the AR25 rims for TPU tubes and clinchers. With a 1x ring and shorter chain as an optional changeover I think 5.6-5.7 is probably doable?
Where did you source the carbon spokes? Used them in some previous build?

At the time when I built these wheels the spokes were being offered for sale by LB. They've since removed them I think. I don't see them on the website. But they are available under different names, they look the same as the other ti-ended carbon spokes on the market. 2.0x2.3mm cross section.
Noted, they're not a perfect solution but there's more of these spokes and about now, definitely sounds like the earliest ones had issues if you're referring to the thread here from a year ago.
Bit of a PSA for owners of this frameset, I had a slipping saddle (angle) so had to pull apart and paste it up. At the same time I noticed the rail clamp had started to cut into my saddle rails. Lucky I caught it early any it's only very superficial on the top layer.
Mad at myself for not checking the clamp more carefully as this is a pretty common problem.
I filed down the sharp edges of the clamp and reported to my local distributor. I think I'm good now with both issues, but more of a PSA for anyone with this frame. Especially with carbon rails.

I just received my frame the other day. I decided to go with the Standard version with Gold/White paint color. Since this is a "custom" paint for the standard Blize, it took just under two months from order to delivery. I am glad I decided to get this color combination. The frame is such a joy to look at. Communication with them on Instagram has been great and usually reponded within a day or two. Given the time difference, I'd say this is good.
The frame in size M, with the relatively heavy paint, come at around 926gr. This includes the both rear and from derailleur hangers. Fork, after cut, comes at around 338gr. Seatpost with the metal parts (7x9mm) clamp are about 182gr. Handlebar in size 380/100mm is 325gr. All in all, including all other parts, the total weight of the complete set is just under 2kg. All surfaces are looking reasonably well finished, with minor paint chips at the edges towards the inside of the headset bearing cups. This should not be an issue, since it will be covered by the headset spacer anyway. Brake caliper surfaces are also faced properly.
I am planning to build the frame with almost all excluslively Chinese parts (wish me luck!). My current list predicts the total weight would be around 6660gr without the pedal. Will post an update once the build is complete.
A couple pictures of the frame.

Nope! This is at no extra charge. My undestanding is that any available color on either XXE or Standard can be an option at no cost. I was told any other color will cost about $500.

Probably worth checking time to time. I did check-in once in two or three weeks.
You can mount the battery inside the seatpost. Elilee Australia has a video on the full build --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm7jR-_gzPs
I am now building the frame with the eR9 groupset, which has similar battery dimensions to Shimano's, only about 1mm wider in diameter. Unfortunately, it is a little tight and I can only slide in about 4-5cm into the seatpost. For now, I manage to secure the battery with a piece of inner tube wrapped around the battery and just push it in. So far, it is holding up very well, almost as firm as my other rubber-wrapped battery on my other bike.
