New EU law (or Swedish?) is forcing Asian dealers to charge 25% in the checkout so that carbon crankset is $962 USD not far from THMintegration wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:02 amFound the crank available for purchase on Ali Express:

You meant the standard duty-prepaid thing which has been around for a while already (including on Aliexpress, not all stores, though), or something else?eucalyptus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:11 amNew EU law (or Swedish?) is forcing Asian dealers to charge 25% in the checkout so that carbon crankset is $962 USD not far from THM
Than again, I agree, 900+ EUR seems a bit too steep for potentially unknown product unless they've already sold a ton of them without issues (with which info fellow Asian WW members might enlighten us with then )
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:

Yeah, a good question. If P2M fits, it must be something standard... so maybe also Sigeyi, perhaps even 8bolt Quarq, given the DUB axle?

Sounds like your country has either an import/customs duty or other kind of sales tax for goods that has to get added on during checkout. That's real a bummer.eucalyptus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:11 amNew EU law (or Swedish?) is forcing Asian dealers to charge 25% in the checkout so that carbon crankset is $962 USD not far from THMintegration wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:02 amFound the crank available for purchase on Ali Express:

It's EU-wide. But many countries are now 'encouraging' large e-commerce platforms that ship into their customs territories to apply VAT at checkout. 25% in Sweden because VAT is 25% there. If you ship to Luxembourg it would be 17%. DE, 19%. Frankly, it's fairer and offers more certainty to the customer.eucalyptus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:11 amNew EU law (or Swedish?) is forcing Asian dealers to charge 25% in the checkout so that carbon crankset is $962 USD not far from THMintegration wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:02 amFound the crank available for purchase on Ali Express:

But yeah, seems like a vast premium for the carbon axle version ...

I messaged them, their spiders are aluminium, ~50grams, and have 4 arm and 5 arm options. They both look pretty standard in comparison to what other brands offer.
Can upload the pictures they sent me of those spiders if you like.
Yes, please, for the community It's the mounting interface, not the spiders themselves, though, which really interest us here, to understand potential compatibility with other stuff around.integration wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:23 pmI messaged them, their spiders are aluminium, ~50grams, and have 4 arm and 5 arm options. P2M, Sigeyi and Xcadey all make compatible PM spiders
The Carbon and Aluminium axles are listed as DUB / 30mm. Obviously it uses an adapter for one or the other, but is it better to use a DUB or 30mm BB? I know it uses a a preload adjuster like SRAM DUB does, which is also plastic like the SRAM one. Can one replace it with the metal Cane Creek / Kogel / Muc Off DUB preload adjuster?StiffWeenies wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 9:11 pmIt uses Cinch, same as Easton and Cybreimrlobber wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:51 pmYes, please, for the community It's the mounting interface, not the spiders themselves, though, which really interest us here, to understand potential compatibility with other stuff around.integration wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:23 pmI messaged them, their spiders are aluminium, ~50grams, and have 4 arm and 5 arm options. I don't think so as the axles are native 28mmRDY wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 9:26 pmThe Carbon and Aluminium axles are listed as DUB / 30mm. They also have a 2 year warranty for their aluminum and carbon axles. They have a lifetime warranty for their 24mm titanium axles.
I might jump on this soon and give them a try as I've been dreaming of having a carbon crank with a 24mm axle for years now.

Yeah the carbon axle version is very expensive. Even the alu axle version is expensive (incl tax).
I can find Easton cranks cheaper, way cheaper. Only downside is they shelved the 5 arm spider.
The aftermarket spider for Easton is for a wider chainline (47mm).
I think it's a pity that the Q-factor is 149mm (it would have been better if it were 145mm).
Chainline is exactly what Shimano uses for 12 speed.
Sram uses 45mm for 12 speed and 45.5mm for 11 speed.
