What is going on in this category? Where are the products?

Is Schwalbe really the only player here?
And it is not without problems, according to bicyclerollingresistance.com, it comes up very narrow.

The Vittoria Corsa N.EXT is dead on arrival, maybe a good OEM tire.
Weighs 395 grams in the 34mm variant. All the reviews are talking about 340 grams (and 240 grams for the tube-type  ), but the website says otherwise.

There is a Challenge 33mm Strada Bianca, which may be close enough?

Why are you so down on the new Vittoria Corsa N.EXT? Looks like it could be a great winter training tyre to me.

There's a whole heap of 35mm gravel tyres, it's only 1mm more. Compass Bon Jon Pass may be a good option.

Too concerned about the weight.

Anyway the 33mm Strada Bianca Pro H-TLR weighs 330g (actual.)

The goal is to have a road tire with very good rolling resistance in the 10-11-12-13 Watts range (BRR) and acceptable weight.

I am just baffled that there isn't a Vittoria Corsa 32mm or Corsa Control 34mm, Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR 34mm and so on.

Even current road race bikes can fit those tires but they are not available. Did the endurance road bike market completely disappear?

330 grams, but only tan wall available. Either this or compromising and going with a 32mm model.

I'd run a 32mm tyre on a wide rim then. A 25-26mm internal diameter rim will stretch a 32mm tyre to 34-35mm.

Even narrower rims. I'm running michellin power road TLR 32c on a 23mm ID and it measures 34.5mm.

Unfortunately I did not bring a 2nd bike to my holidays (it'd be stupid to do so I guess) so I could compare average speeds with a 28c tire but if I'm missing something in speed is really marginal.

I am surprised that they released the slow tire before the race tire. It's not like the Corsas have seen an update in the past century or so.

Vittoria claimed Corsa Next TLR is on par with Pro One TLE in terms of RR. The latter is 10.2 W according to BRR, which is faster than all non-speeed model of current Vittoria's offer. I won't consider Next as a slow tire.

It's not their first or second fastest model by definition and if it's really faster than the Pro One, which I always found a little on the slower side, remains to be seen.

I was reading interesting article on rolling resistance, regarding ultra wide rims and tires. Something like nextie 29id, 32od, 40mm deep. 34c tire becomes 36-37, so rule of 105% is satisfied. That makes is very plush and comfy, with small rr penalty.

That sounss like solution for crappy roads though.
Plus this requires different frame (kanzoo fast). Im going to try 28-30c tire with 25/32 rims first before going wider

That's not at all satisfying the 105% rule, though I believe you are confusing some measurements. It's not possible to have a 29mm inner width and a 32mm outer width.

I wouldn't wonder about the lack of products. For road riding 34mm+ wide tyres aren't necessary; if the roads you're riding on are THAT bad, you're really better served by gravel stuff. Sure, there are people who still would find these widths useful, but they're a niche, just like the ones who are fine riding 23mm tubs (like me).
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:
Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

No, there's a definite need for wide road tires, not gravel slicks with weird tread patterns and tiny shoulder knobs. Just because you don't ride that way doesn't mean others don't also.
