Hi,
here is my new rocket, just built :
Cervelo S5 size 54
Dura Ace 9270 groupset with 52/36 crankset, Stages left PM and Galfer rotors
Princeton Peak 4550 wheels (White Industries hubs) + Conti GP5000STR 28mm
Hylix seatpost
Sworks Romin Mirror
Total 7.55kg ready to ride for this pure beast !
Family portrait...
Provided you have same fit of these two bikes, i would like to read how much gain you think you have with S5 (subjective speed and or energy saved)?
Hopefully you try to ride both with about same input, not punching like crazy on S5 just to prove to yourself you actually see any gain.
I am more asking this question to hear your objective interpretation between these two.
A buddy many years ago bought same combo, but he was disappointed in the difference.
Bikes:
Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)
Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

Difficult question, because I haven't ridden the Rca for a long time... And for sure it is impossible to keep calm when riding the S5 ! I have beaten almost all my PRs, even some climbs...
But when I start pedalling I always want to go faster and faster, even if I finish boiled !
For the "étape du Tour" from Annemasse to Morzine, I think I'm gonna ride the S5...

nice... what do the wheels weigh by themselves?
Wheels are creative carbon rims 45mm with extralite hubs, think super ray spokes? Need to check.

Quick question, has anyone found or been able to buy a zero offset seatpost? Even a third party one like Darimo would be okay.
while the new is 15... I thought the old post for forward compatible ... so that would mean 0 offset post on outgoing model should fit the new one. Should be plenty of those around.
Yes, you can get zero offset. My new S5 came with one, I swapped it out for a Hylix post as it's 100 grams lighter than OEM post.

1190 grams.
ahh nice..explains a bit of the low weight. I'd be closer to 7.3kg with my enves which are deeper. Still impressive for a 56cm. You must have got a ringer. I weighed a stock 51 with dura ace (black colorway) and it was 7.8kg without pedals. That kind of broke my want for one a little.

Hi
I have located a 48cm cervelo S5 in a webshop. Is it correct that the 48cm frame comes with the 8cm stem and 38cm handlebar or would that be extra?
That's what came on my 2023 frameset

If you have same position on the RCA, you should take it out now that you are used to the S5. You will probably be able to tell right away which of the bikes is better on what. I guess the ride feel of the RCA is quite different!?

For sure the RCA is more comfy, even with my light seat... I love it for my longer rides, and without hesitation it is a bike I will keep.
But for races or PB chasing, the S5 is far better in my opinion (even when climbing) !
Hope this helps...
