The cockpit and the bottom bracket stiffness looks like an alu frame bike, also there is no power meter and it's 105 comparing to Ultegra and 4iiii in slx. Another factor is that I am 196cm tall and weigh almost 100 kg which would not help with the stiffness/(ISOflow?) of madone.

What you think?
I have the bike and I feel it stiff enough.

For reference, my max power is around 1000w and I weight 70 kg, bike is size 56, slr 9 spec

I'm changing bikes almost every year and my feeling is that this is one of the best bikes I've ever had

All these numbers are disappointing tbh, especially the fork.

Curiosity question for madone (and maybe emonda) users. I was looking at the geometry table of the madone and for a size 54, I saw 541mm of stack. I assume this measure does not include the headset cover. Can anyone confirm?

And if it does not include, what is the stack height of that headset cover?

Seems to be particularly tall in these two bikes.

How are these numbers disappointing? The overall weight is great for a pure aero bike. Plus the measured 207 watts are excelent, too.

I have had the bike for a few months now. Coming from a S-works SL7, the Madone feels noticeably stiffer. Especially in the BB area. I would say this is the best bike I have ever owned (I have owned a lot of bikes). Handling is comparable to the SL7.

These numbers are disappointing for a 2023 model. My 2019 Venge is just as aero +-1w and 400g lighter and if markethype is real the Sl8 will be more aero and almost 1kg lighter at a cheaper price.
The new Supersix smokes it aswell. Trek should focus less on Gimmicks and improve on the important metrics imo.

So in comparison they are worse but in no means bad. I get that.

It's definitely a great bike but you have to hold it to the highest standard when they are asking premium prices.

The crux of the matter is why would anyone actively choose to buy an 'aero' bike like the Madone, which by its nature is heavier and less compliant (isoflow not withstanding), over an all rounder line the SL8 or SuperSix, if there is no difference in aero performance?

Trek will need to convince customers, while Specialized and Cannondale are pushing at an open door (or perhaps open wallet).

^ not everyone wants a specialized. I'll take a TREK MADONE over a SL8 personally on looks alone. The real decision is a ride test.

Did they test the sl8 or the newest S5 in the latest test?

Tour tests, while controlled, are not necessarily realistic. Humans aren’t just a set of legs. It’s clear with all the creative use of water bottles and race radios lately that shaping the airflow under the chest generally results in somewhere between 3-10% power savings at just 40km/h depending on the person.

No. SL8 is under test. I suppose they will publish the results next month
