Works great for me ! Very helpfull and I will keep my karoo 2 as long as possible ! Di2 integration is the only thing missing since update. Now, it is the best head unit for me.

Gplama made a video about it:

Think I've seen enough positive reviews to give it a shot now!

Now I'm curious of other useful app's to load.
You can sideload Aurora Store, which will let you access and install anything available in Google Play Store (without even needing a Google Account).

https://auroraoss.com/

Just keep in mind that some Play Store apps require Google Services Framework and Google Play Services to work properly, both of which are not available in the Karoo. This affects mostly banking and messaging apps.

You can also sideload F-Droid which is an app Store focused on Open Source apps. In F-Droid there is an OSS version of Telegram that can work without GSF or Google Play Services.

I am actually doing some tests with a pre-paid SIM card. Objective is to go ride without a phone, but still manage to have access to some sort of messaging and Uber for emergencies.

I'll check it out. Just curious of useful sideloaded apps worth trying. Thinking maybe a music player that shows song titles and such. Nothing too crazy.

Price has been cut on the K2 ... couple of shops in DE now selling at €335. Hopefully K3 not delayed that much then.

Interesting!

Using an old wahoo bolt and a glitchy Garmin 1030. Was hoping K3 was around the corner. Hopefully they have something coming soon. Not impressed by the Roam V2 or 840/1040

Now sub €300 at BikeInn ... that seems like a soon to be discontinued price.

The ONLY thing I would say that I would want in a new model is better battery life for ultra races/having all features on for long rides (found that Di2 pairing murdered the battery life), can't really see what else needs updating, could make it a bit thinner/lighter but not really that big of a deal personally.

Battery definitely is my biggest concern with the k2 on full day rides. I have had it die on me multiple times and I don't like having to worry about my battery.
I also think the screen could be better. Sometimes it has a strong glare in direct sunlight.
Despite these issues, there is still no other GPS I would rather use.

Makes sense. K1 was replaced by K2 roughly after three years. K2 will be three years old this autumn.

My experience of the battery life is that it is better if you set it up with differrent bikes with their corresponding sensors. Battery life was badly affected prior to this because the unit was searching for sensors on my other bikes. Also, the bluetooth connection for phone alerts is a battery suck.

For a long ride (6.5 hours +) I will dim down the display to low setting & switch of phone pairing. I run:

HRM
Power
Radar

on my bikes at all times. I don't have eTap connected to it (not bothered). I ditched speed sensors a while ago.

Last ride of this length I had 30% battery left at the end.

Holding out for the K3 which should be announced soon considering all the price drops recently.
