My guess is you can't buy high end stuff, because the focus is production of low end stuff, because big money is in low end bikes.
It's not an either/or situation - low end Shimano and high end Shimano aren't even made in the same country, let alone the same factories. Scaling up at one end doesn't mean scaling down at the other.

Looks like somebody finally developed a workaround for this. Initial testing by reddit users seems positive but I might wait for a bit more feedback before updating my K2 software.

Today I got my new karoo2 after 5 months of painful experience with 1040.
Only reason that was stopping me prior to returning was removed di2 functionality. When I red that there is workaround available I immediately decided to give and try.

And I can confirm- Di2 functionality came back. There are some tiny differences and inconvenience but having possibility to change pages via hood button is worth everything.Image

How hard is it to side load? Does one need to be pretty code savvy? Also if done, would it be hard to go back to factory settings? Thinking of given this a go as it was a nice to have feature.

Read DC Rainmakers instructions. Not that difficult. Once you set it up for your first side load, other apps are easier to add.

It is very easy, everything takes less than 10 minutes and I spent most of that time looking for appropriate usb-c cable (shape of socket limits size of cable plug).
There are 3 commands that have to be used following each other and that’s all.

Thank you. Found a Mac specific guide and looks pretty straightforward. As a Mac person commands make me apprehensive. :-)

I found a nice video on you tube to supplement DC's article and got my Karoo side loaded and running the ki2.
Now I'm curious of other useful app's to load.
