Sp, can a R7120 shifter drive a 9100 derailleur or will I need that, as well, to go 12 speed mechanical shimano?
Are you talking about the future mechanical R7100? Or R7100 DI2 with 9011 DI2?

R7120, which has been leaked. I'm wondering if like SRAM, the derailleur doesn't matter, just the shifter itself.

^ That will depend on whether Shimano change the cable pull ratio for 12 (versus 11), something we don't know yet. I'm hoping it stays the same (for another hack) but who knows yet outside Shimano HQ?

The derailleur is definitely going to matter to some extent - it always does!

For SRAM, it doesn't; just the tumbler in the shifter.

Any long term reviews of 105 Di2? Pretty tempting when you can get a mini group for around $800 USD. Just curious what the real world experiences are.

Form factor of the shifter looks unchanged from 11sp. Which means you could buy right shifter, RD, chain, and cassette and be good to go.

I believe they're ST-R7025 lever blades

Hopefully the pull ratios are unchanged, if so you could keep your existing RD too!

This is... Weird. Compared to Apex/rival 105 di2 isn't really priced that agrressively and the 12 speed mechanical is about to under cut that a lot. This will all make more sense of we see deep discounts on 105 di2 (which I really hope for).

They definitely did, but it seems like SRAM has figured that part out at least partially. So many bikes in the price range that this would be in are now SRAM only.

Shimano already has 12spd pull ratios and with 12spd GRX using MTB cassettes, it would make an awful lot of sense for everything to standardize on it. It would allow for configs like flat-bar gravel builds.

Yea, I compared to my current shifters and they look exactly the same. I then remembered that I'm running the 7025 levers. And I'm sure people will try it, and would be cool to have one less thing to upgrade.
