He was talking about 11s derailleur with 12s shifter.TobinHatesYou wrote:Shimano already has 12spd pull ratios and with 12spd GRX using MTB cassettes, it would make an awful lot of sense for everything to standardize on it. It would allow for configs like flat-bar gravel builds.

Pointless exercise.LanceLegstrong wrote:Yea, I compared to my current shifters and they look exactly the same. I then remembered that I'm running the 7025 levers. And I'm sure people will try it, and would be cool to have one less thing to upgrade.StiffWeenies wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 3:58 pmI believe they're ST-R7025 lever blades
Hopefully the pull ratios are unchanged, if so you could keep your existing RD too!LanceLegstrong wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 3:49 pmForm factor of the shifter looks unchanged from 11sp. Which means you could buy right shifter, RD, chain, and cassette and be good to go.
Shimano won’t have kept the pull ratio anywhere similar. They didn’t from 8 to 9 to 10 and on to 11 and didn’t with MTB when it went to 12.
As for spacing being the same across MTB & road, that makes sense.

Also funny that corratec has installed inline barrel adjusters on it. Something that isn’t necessary on shimano mechanical groupsets for a while now
Be careful, there were actually a lot of chain drops when some teams were still using 11sp rings (due to power meters, availability, etc.)
I am using an ultegra FC-R8000 crankset (has my powermeter) with an ultegra di2 12spd for over a year without any problems.
Just set your limits for the FD as described in the mobile app ( < 1mm between the chain and the FD plates) since the di2 FDs slightly overshifts initially before getting back to the correct position, but this applies to any crankset.
Cool! I was just wondering if I could use my FC-R8000 Dual Stages crankset with the di2 RD R7150 group. I assume if it works with Ultegra it'll work with 105, correct?bmrk wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 4:33 amI am using an ultegra FC-R8000 crankset (has my powermeter) with an ultegra di2 12spd for over a year without any problems.

Another option….. Shimano made the older cranks compatible with the newer chainrings. So if you’re worried about shifting performance just use 12 speed chainrings. Cosmetically there will be a small mismatch. You cannot however use 11-speed chainrings on 12-speed cranks, not that many people will want to do that anyways.

Any news/updates about launch/availability and pricing?
I'm interested in a spare set of rim brake/mechanical 105 and am torn between waiting for the 12sp mechanical or buying a cheaper 11sp R7000 on sale (with upgraded Ultegra brifters). With the 11sp, I would use a 11-30 cassette, while with the 12sp a 11-34 cassette (with 50-34 cranks in both cases), which means that I would have almost identical cassettes/ratios, except an extra 34-34 granny gear with the 12sp (the first 11 cogs on the 12sp cassette are the same as the 11sp 11-30). I do ride very steep (16-18%) hills occasionally, so the 34-34 is not exactly wasted on me, but it's not really a vital necessity either (I can manage 99% of my rides with 54/30-11/30). And the 12sp cassette is around 20% heavier than the 11sp one in this case.
I'm also concerned somewhat about the finicky setup and adjustment of a mechanical 12sp, so maybe staying with 11sp is safer in that regard

Worst case scenario you could keep "old" ultegra crank with newer 12sp chainrings.
New chainrings on old cranksets work, old chainrings in newer cranksets don't.

New to WW, first post, so please be gentle.
I recently purchased a Litespeed Ultimate Disc with R7170 groupset, 50/34t front crank. While climbing a long, moderate hill, I somehow bent a couple of teeth and soon after large chainring bent - no idea why; about 250 miles on the bike. Not quite a clydesdale (weigh about 205 pounds), wondering if I should replace with something other than the OEM Hollowtech ring.
Comments? Suggestions?
