Thanks, glad to hear. Getting mixed responses from LBS. My plan is to reuse my FC R7000 crankset and calipers from my 105 mechanical groupset.

This. Its's her bike, not yours.
Hello, is there a definitve answer about if the 105 7100 is Hyperglide+? By looking at the pictures it looks exactly like the Ultegra one with all the typical Hyperglide+ machining. The chain itself would obviously be hyperglide+ because on the mtb side everything is HG+. I might order them both and then send them back for comparison
according to Shimano specifications, 105 R7100 cassettes are HG no HG+Edopizzo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 10:30 amHello, is there a definitve answer about if the 105 7100 is Hyperglide+? Yes, obviously. However they do appear the same (as were the previous generations) and the 105's are much cheaper and weigh the same except for the steel lockring. I was wondering if I'm technically missing hyperglide+ by going 105 or if it's the same
^ I'd like to know too, but I don't think anyone has seen actual samples yet, much less had a chance to play with them. There is also a dearth of 12 speed cassettes with >36T, but <46T; Shimano do 10-45, Sunshine do 11-40/42/(46) and Ingrid do 11-44 but that's about it other than XPLR at 10-44. There's no reason why something else couldn't be made, but companies tend to be run by ex-racers, most of whom have never used low gears and don't see any reason why they should exist...
I was hoping Shimano might actually offer something useful for bikepacking with the next round of GRX, but that's looking very unlikely now. The best hope IMHO is that something can be cobbled together out of 105 mechanical, GRX, or something else but we'll have to wait and see what the actual capacities are after things make it into the marketplace. Unfortunately, 2x with low gears seems to be unfashionable at present.
