W/o upper body, truned-in hoods will increase drag a little due to the increased A imo

Honest question: if I do an 90degree elbow and grab the brakes with my pinkies. Is that uci legal?

It's banned

Thanks.

P. S.: it is nonetheless really stupid by the uci. Oh well...

I'm not sure the turned-in hoods would warrant an aero improvement with a half mannequin?
Can't remember where, but I've seen tests saying turned-in hoods are faster on their own

Super narrow bars, turned-in and parallel to the ground hoods... Way more test optimised than most every other bike on test.

Probably still a decently fast bike either way.
With a half mannequin that doesn't have a torso or arms turned in levers are going to cost a watt or two if anything.

By the letter of the law, whether you are touching the hoods/levers or not is completely irrelevant. Absolutely nothing in the regulations mandates that your hands be anywhere near the hoods. The thing that is banned is resting your forearms on the bars, no matter what any other part of your body - including your hands - is doing.

If any UCI commissaires are interpreting the rule so that you can rest your arms on the bars as long as your hands are touching something (which I think they are) then it's the exact opposite of the intent of the rule as it is written.

I’m glad someone else noticed this and thinks it’s odd.

I actually think the rule fails to distinguish between what it attempts to ban and “aero hoods” - even without turned in hoods I’ve always felt that the aero hoods position relies pretty heavily on resting my weight just behind my wrists. My hands aren’t holding me up, more just preventing me from sliding forward. And “just behind my wrists” is definitely part of my forearms unless I’ve got some really fundamental misunderstandings about human anatomy!

When Reacto came out, i think it had a really cool look. These days so many bikes are shaped like this.
It's like all make versions of same concept. Perhaps this is why Madone did that magic hole?
Is this just a pearl white edition, no updates to the design?
Just a new paint.
I'd guess there will be a new one for MY2024.

I dont know if this is the right thread for it, but I am looking to get Speedmax. Seeing this Model is almost 3 years old, it'll probably get an update? Are there any rumors?
I could easy wait another 8 months or so - i just dont like the colors of the Speedmax 105 Model :)

The current Speedmax was relased in 2021. I'm sure the sales are low compared to Ultimate and Aeroad. I wouldn't expect an update before 2025.

A new Speedmax size just appeared on the UCI-approved list. I'm told it's the same frame, just an additional size (although that doesn't seem to match whats appeared on the list). Nevertheless, suggests to me it'll be about for a while yet.

Seems like the new Look frame will be released at Eurobike next week.
