Not sure about the new 105, but hopefully these new shoes will be released soon. I can't wear the S-Works 7 because it digs into the front of my ankle where the ligament is. Tried the Ares, but they look too clunky. Fit wise they were ok, but super difficult to get on.
Good spot. Look slightly Ares-ish.
From the 7s, I hope they keep:
The shape of the sole
The wide toe box
The heel retention
The coating which is very easy to clean
And change:
The retention system which digs into the ankle
The useless velcro strap

Yes! I totally agree. The ankle was a huge issue for many people on the 7's. The Ares are OK, but Specialized obviously went function over form for those. To me the Ares don't LOOK like $400 shoes. I'm still wearing S-Works 6's, but they are on their last life.
But first the S-Works 7 with laces.

Wearing the Ares shoes they are easy to get into for me. Don't have to tighten the boas
Hope they will widen the last a bit at the front. Or produce a proper wide version and no more volume.
Heel retention is my main goal for getting these

They do look, albeit hard to tell from 2 photos, like a "low" version of the Ares without the bootie part. Really, if they just updated the BOA dials from the 7 they'd be a winner for me. The 7 fit me well, I just wanted the updated BOAs. The Ares were not a good fit; either they were too loose in the toebox (size 46) or way too snug (read: digging in) in the heel (size 45.5).

Hard to make out, but it doesn't look to have as many overlapping layers as the Ares. More of a standard single flap "burrito wrap" with a small cutout V between the two BOA dials.
