Hi all,
Any owners have actual weights for RDC and non-RDC in L size? Trying to see if RDC price is worth the weight gain :)
Thanks
I'll tell you what I saw in pictures with the frame RDC on the scale: ( I have this pictures ) 130g difference for me doesn't matter, for others it matters a lot
RDC XS frame :?:
RDC S frame 870g
RDC M frame 890g
RDC L frame 914g
RDC XL frame 938g
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Standard XS frame :?:
Standard S frame :?:
Standard M frame 1020g ( mine )
Standard L frame :?:
Standard XL frame :?:
It also depends on the color of RDC version. Black (Naked) are lightest, White should be the heaviest. White size L examples have been reported at 950+ grams, even close to 1000g IIRC.
I ordered a size L RDC White. With current knowledge (non-RDC being close to specified weight, RDC being heavier) I'd probably would have gotten a non-RDC if it weren't for the color. The Pearl White looked best and the non-RDC colors weren't that attractive.
That being said, is the RDC one worth 500€/$ extra? Probably not given the weights of the actual frames.
I did a quick sum of all the weights I found online for the various sizes and models. For Non RDC there too few data points, but for RDC I could calculate the average and the average deviation. I tried to use / correct the numbers to how SEKA weighs them, with derailleur mounts.
RDC XL: 972g, average deviation +/- 12g
RDC L: 948g, average deviation +/- 23g
RDC M: 901g, average deviation +/- 12g
RDC S: 891g, average deviation +/- 6g
Exceed L: 1070g (single data point)
Exceed M: 1052g, average deviation +/- 14g
S and M seem really close, you can get an M that is lighter than an S. Maybe the same layup between S and M, with just slightly larger sheets, while L and higher probably get some additional sheets of carbon thrown in some place.
The numbers for RDC L include two white frames, which explains the higher average deviation in that size.
The added weight for a white frames vs average black frame is a whopping 60g in size L.
So Weight Weenies will need to go size S or M in black, Style Weenies may pick white and size to fit.
Seems I rejoined at an appropriate moment! Just weighed my build M frame and very happy with the result! Weight will go up if I need to change to a more comfortable saddle and if I switch to tubeless tyres. Also need to add tools/spares, lights and computer/mount.
Had my build completed.
RDC Naked black L.
Ride ready 7.19kg
Sram red axs, LB Falcon pro AR565 Flyweight, CarbonTi chainrings inc. chain catcher, chainstay protector, mounts.
Impression from first ride it is that much stiffer feeling than my previous fuji sl (yet more comfortable), faster, more stable.
Haven't tested it on a climb yet.
Here is my build:
7.5kg as in the pictures
I created a SL7 stem/spacer adapter, which goes on top of the dust cover. Not perfect, but I take it for now. Maybe I will design a proper dust cover in the future.
You can find the STL file on printables: https://www.printables.com/de/model/381 ... em-adapter
I also tried to design an ACR adapter, but dropped it, because the SL7 adapter was ready to go and I didn't want to invest more time.
Mine should arrive on Friday.
For anyone who's interested in extra info about how shipping to EU is done and all the steps:
- TakeSend shipping service - 5 days (Feb 8th to Feb 13th) within China
- 17Feia Express - 6 days (Feb 14th to Feb 20th) flight from China to Europe (arrived in Belgium, Liege airport) + customs clearance
- DPD - roughly 3-4 days (Feb 21st to Feb 24th) standard road delivery within Europe
Just got my shipping notification 2 days ago. 38 days between deposit and shipping notification. I'm cautiously optimistic/excited about this build! Parts have started coming in--LTWOO groupset, ICAN wheels. Also just put an order in for a Magene QED powermeter yesterday. Fingers crossed everything turns out as I hoped!
I can't speak about UK customs since I'm not in the UK (I'm EU). There are some UK folks in the Spreadsheet that added some additional taxes they needed to pay.
I'll update my original message to mention EU rather than Europe since non-EU countries will probably have different shipping.
My frameset arrived today with no issues. Packaging was a bit worn from the travel but no pucntures to it or anything.
White color is really nice. It's not flat white, it has a bit of a pearlescent note to it. Tried to show it in one of the pictures.
If you want to me take detail pictures of some parts of the frame, let me know.
Quick weight without removing any of the protective foil/foam/plastic axles is 1010g. Expected for Pearl White L.
Mine has shipped with UPS, this is an order to NZ. I purchased the frame in mid December so turnaround was within the guidelines. WIll update when I get it.
