I am tired of messing with one of my calipers and the sticking pistons. Trying to decide which direction to go for a replacement. So I am going to reiterate pushpush's question:

"are people still making the leap to the Magura calipers or are more people satisfied with the minorly improved 9270s?"

The 9270 is not a minor improvement. It's a huge improvement.

I wound up pulling the trigger on a 9270 caliper and swapped it out with my front. It is a tremendous improvement. I'll probably do my rear at some point in the future, but I started with 1 to see what happened. I'm sure the Magura is a similar or better improvement, but just in case someone else comes along wondering if a 9270 swap is a viable option, it definitely is.

Swap including a brake bleed took me 20min. No issues other than me taking a minute to realize the bleed configuration is a little different. Everything is still on-brand and matchy matchy. $130 well spent.

The Magura calipers have better clearance, much better piston retraction, significantly better stopping power and better modulation (particularly with GRX 8xx or 92xx servo wave levers). The 9270 / 81xx / 71xx calipers aren't close, but appear to be marginally better than the previous gen re: piston retraction and do have marginally better clearance. Judging by what the LBS says, they're still leaking more frequently from the piston seals than Magura or SRAM though. Final note: TS C21s (I haven't ridden or even seen C22s) do have a little more stopping power than the Magura 2 piston FMs, but good luck finding stock.

I've had 9270 and wasn't that impressed with it. Shigura with 9170 has been some of the best braking I've experienced.

Looking into this aswell. What is your setup: Dura Ace 91## levers, what hydraulic hose is required, will Shimano do?

I'm using Campagnolo pads but the Magura stock pads look identical but lighter.

Can I check in if the Magura MT8 SL FM Caliper have a wider clearance for the Disc Rotor vs the latets Shimano 12 speed Caliper? Beside having move bite to the stopping power?
