£313.99 RRP Cassettes :(

I wonder if there'll be lower tier offerings later on so you don't need to fork out on SR wearable parts so often.
The current Super Record 12-speed cassette is £319.99 RRP and a Red AXS XG-1290 cassette is £339.00 RRP. Dura-Ace R9200 is £329.99 RRP.

What are the advantages of having smaller chainrings, a 10 tooth cog and max 29 tooth cog?
Weight savings on the chainset and cassette.
I wonder how much heavier it would be without opting for smaller cassettes and chainrings since it's already heavier than both competitors? 😳

Okay, compare the chainsets RRP instead. Campagnolo £930. Shimano £550. SRAM £692. Hell you can get 9200 cranks (discounted) and Assiomas (single sided) for £924 right now.

Five thousand dollar groupset, no power meter. 300-plus dollar cassette, thumb shifter replaced by a new system that is absolutely horrid. And no 13-speed.

And as if all that wasn't enough, really lukewarm initial reviews. I don't understand where this is going, but seeing it happen in real time is just depressing.

Yes, I know I don't have to purchase it if I don't want to. That's not the point of this post. Can't wait for the next ludicrous advancement, like 1X chainrings. Oh, they're here already...

I don’t quite understand it either, but Shimano, FSA, Campagnolo and WheelTop have all been affected.
Many years before Sram had its eTap, Shimano already had Di2 prototypes in competition with a removable battery... Shimano still preferred to continue with cables rather than knowing their reasons, I don't think it's because of Sram patents... maybe reliability? that the Di2 is not just shifters/shifts and is thinking further(e-bikes) not just Road/MTB/gravel.......
Are you referring to the original Di2 battery? I’m pretty sure that was a production item. You can still use it with 11 speed Di2.

no, it was not a production battery, prototype of the Dura-Ace 7970 on the Gerolsteiner team's bike, detachable battery in the front derailleur... it was said that the levers (they had a small liquid crystal display or LCD) were cableless (this is not i know for sure...
That battery was there as the FD draw an amount of power the main battery had a hard time giving through a thin wire. The shifters with the funny display (that would get hazy from humidity in no time)were wired.

Could you run 11-speed Chorus cassettes when 12-speed SR was released in back 2019? No. It was a new system. Chorus didn't appear until 2020 and then you had the option of two price tiers. When the eventual trickle down occurs there will be a broader range of prices. So basically - wait.

How can the cassette cost 36.5% more than the last generation? Is the only difference the smaller sprockets?

Alright - that's where the price is going - paying GCN to say nice things about it. Remember ekar had a similar paid review.

It costs exactly the same as the previous generation.

Chicken cycles is showing £313.99 for SRW12 vs £229.99 for SR12. Is the SR12 after a price reduction for being older?
