I’d check Facebook groups for canyon owners, I saw some people looking to swap or get rid of bars there.

I’m curious to know if anyone has just tried drilling more holes in their cockpit to make it more narrow. Obvious safety issues aside is that even possible or would more need to be done to make the stock handlebars more narrow?

that is asking for it... I would hope that the layup would be strengthend around existing holes, but if you drill new ones no way

I spoke to a canyon USA rep online who said that a 105 di2 build of the aeroad is coming. They wouldn’t tell me if it would be an SL or an SLX model but I think we all know it will be an SLX model.

Also, canyon is clearly working on new handlebar shapes for an upcoming gravel bike. See the link below. I hope this means that what we new shapes they are working on will be compatible with their road frames. Hopefully they will come in a dimension that is at least 36cm at the hoods and they are available for purchase.

No those bars won’t work on an aeroad/ultimate

But it might mean that they're abandoning the quill stem idea. Which if we're being honest should have never left the designers table. Coming up with that idea and presenting it with a straight face to someone should be grounds for immediate firing, just like approving it. It would maybe be understandable if it was one of the first integration solutions on the market. But it wasn't, it was one of the last ones and they had plenty of time to study other attempts. There were so many others out there that some brands were on their second iteration already. And it was obvious what the optimal solution was, especially when the brands that were on the second iteration were pretty much all moving to the same direction.

Maybe but the aeroad, ultimate, (inflite protoype) are all new so they won’t have a new model in 3-5 years.

"New" clamping mechanism, like on the old aeroad without rubber grommet.

Also new Force D2 configuration or has this been out for a while? I never noticed.

Can see it pretty clearly on the frameset only images!

Headset also seems to have been redesigned slightly. Torque spec is higher(?) and it seems like there's a black cap below the clamping mechanism 👀
The white SLX is also gone.

Youre right, torque was 9 Nm and now the spacer/cap is as wide as the end of the stem/bar combo. Old Spacer/Cap was a bit wider than the stem/bar combo at the stem end side.

I can see this being my next bike in a year or two - unless something drastic happens.

Do you guys reckon it will have fixed all the baby mistakes?
