I'm thinking about getting a Time Alpe d'Huez. My options are: Buying a Alpe d'Huez 01 frameset and build it up with a Shimano 12-speed groupset, probably 105 or going for the Alpe d'Huez 2023 full build. I'm not so sure about the differences between the frames, the 01 is lighter and more rigid accordingly to Time themselves, but going out of production soon so I assume the 2023 is more aero or something?
The 2023 I can only find from the official Time American site, and I need it to Europe which will mean taxes, tolls which is not worth it. I'm currently in Central America so a possibility is to somehow pick it up on my way back. Not sure if it's worth it or if i should go for the 01 frameset instead. :noidea:

I like the 01 geometries better. Get it while you can.

Where do you see significant differences? In size M, for example, geometry between the two is almost identical, except a 6 mm longer chain stay on the 23 (and 1 mm fork trail)

I am also confused by the ADH23. It looks like they added dyneema and possibly more high mod weave for more stiffness. Is there any difference in geometry outside of XXS, XS and S being consolidated into XS and S?

I don't really see big geometry differences. What's different and new are the dyneema and the Deda DCR headset (and internal cable routing). Oh, and the discontinuation of rim brake models (for the new ADH23 only) and lack of 2x mechanical drivetrain compatility (for anyone considering Shimano 2x11 or the upcoming 105 2x12 or Campag). As I have said before in this thread, if I wanted electronic shifting, I'd go for the ADHX (for better tire clearance); otherwise, the revamped ADH01 should make rim brake fans happy.

There is also a bit of a diffeence in the seatpost. The 01 ADH has a proprietary D-shaped seatpost and very special seatpost clamp;
the 23 ADH uses a standard round seatpost and seatpost collar. Advantages and disadvantages to each of these. Also, the way the seat-stays attach to the seatcluster is a bit different; I personally like the '01 style better, but it is probably just an aesthetic thing.

Just two months ago I changed my order for a '23 ADH to an order for an '01 ADH. This was partly because the '01 was available right away (last one in my size!), partly because of the aesthetics of the seatstays, and partly because I managed to find, after scouring the country with the help of Time, an old-style Time monolink stem, which works with the '01 and not the '23, and which is a glory to behold. I was not really thrilled with the internal routing and Deda stem of the '23, although it surely will work well, once you have the geometry right.
When I made my purchase, the price of the '23 hadn't been announced, but after it came out, it was less than I paid for the '01.

The new bike is built with Campy EPS and disc brakes, and is an absolute joy. I should note, though, that I've been riding a Time VXS for fifteen years already, and that is also a really great bike.

The 2023 version have 410mm chainstays and the old 404 or 403mm.
I would bet it has to do with tire clearance. I would pick the 2023 version.

I find this confusing too because the tire clearance has officially stayed the same (unfortunately), but then I really wonder why they lengthened the chain stay

My RX has 402mm chainstays. Record 12 shifts fine, but a bit noisy in the big ring and the largest 3 cogs.

I haven't had a single issue with 12 speed Ultegra Di2 in the first 600km on my ADH01. The chainline Shimano listed for the FC-8100 chainrings was 1mm further outboard than what's in the manual for the frame, but I've ran it without problems so far. If it were 5mm maybe I would have worried about it.

I just swapped from Etap (gen 1) to AXS which is 12 speed.
It shifts even more precise and less noise.
My Ax bikes chainstays are 403mm.
I can shift through 48t chainring from 10-26t on my cassette and i must say, the drag and noise is way less than what it was using Etap.
My Etap felt very rough at 50-11, frankly when i was on 48-10 i was happily dazzled that it felt so smooth.
