No time soon for update. Cervelo doesnt follow the one bike to rule them all therory so this bike has another 2 years minimum. The bike is a climbing bike and there are no real gains to be made with the current design being pretty much perfect. Module weight is already near pefect with a 710 gram frame, 350 gram fork and only the 190 gram seatpost being slightly heavy but thats mostly in the seat clamp area and cheap aftermarket options are available. The frame stiffness is outstanding while not being overly jarring. Handling is razor sharp and the bike turs like it's on rails and the snappiness accelerating out of saddle is the best I've felt and I've ridden most of the top high end bikes. Aero is good enough to easilt stay in the wheels if your racing or riding fondos and deeper wheels and a narrow aero bar bring it close to more aero all-arounders. This bike is a Unicorn.

The previous R5 Disc was either 3-4 years I believe. That MY21/22 was released in October 21 I believe so likely October 2024 at the earliest if Cervelo does decide to update. I think the R5 doesn't sell nearly as well as the S5/Caledonia/Soloist so I can't see them rushing to update a bike that they've already squeezed so much performance from. The Caledonia and Aspero will be the next bikes updated.

Hmmmm I have blasphemy on mind.
Since Soloist front end is convertible to an R5 front end, can I also convert R5 front end to Soloist front end for easy travel?
I'm guessiing noone has done it (cause you're not crazy) but I can't see why this wouldn't be possible.

I just bought a 2022 R5 frameset in 54cm Five Black. Since I've seen a bunch of reports of Cervelo frames being poor quality particularly in the BB shell dimensions, I sent the frame and fork to Ruckus Composites to do ultrasound inspection and measure the BB shell. They didn't detect any issues in the carbon and the BB shell diameter was 46.00 +-0.05mm.

Hi everyone,
Slightly late to the party but I’m considering an R5 build with the aim to go as light weight as my budget will allow.
Does everyone still rate this bike? It has a lot of wins under its belt. I know it’s approaching close to a refresh but the feedback appears to be positive, though limited in number. I was expecting to see a forum full of responses and comments.
Are there any concerns about the pressfit BB?
I can see a few areas where I reduce the weight starting with the handlebars. Reading the comments it appears to be ok to use an aftermarket handlebar set up for a round tube as opposed to a D-shape.
Stock wheels (Ultegra build) look to be another area for weight saving. I plan to use a lighter crank and lighter saddle.
Any feedback and tips would be greatly appreciated.
