I have the nut-inserted steerer and also gets to weight the first version (the one with the issue) as well as the latest one. Pretty much there are no meaningful weight different between them. I kinda like mine (nut-inserted steerer) seems well fitted. No issue so far.

I really liked the nut-inserted steerer, actually. Not having to think about an expander plug slipping was kind of a nice change.

yes, the old version (Nut-inserted Steer) was much better and the assembly was actually easier, no slipping expander. It's a pity that the factor has changed. and the old version is just as heavy and safe as the new one.

This is actually the best fork for the Ostro, safe and light and easy to assemble (without expander) too bad 🤷

i tried meassuring the distance of the crankarm to the frame. seemed like there was 2 mm difference. so moved 1 mm spacer from driveside to non drive side.
it is better for the front derailleur settings, but not perfect yet.
Ok, thank you for the info.
What chainrings do you use?

The best thing with the old design is that you do not have to cut down the fork 2mm more because of the excessive 2mm lip from the expander. With the new Black Inc barstem including the integrated top cap it gets quite narrow there.

This I have written in the FB Factor group.
I cut the fork on Saturday. Measured expander top lip 2,1mm and the lip undee the top cap 1,4-1,5mm, so a minimum of 3,6mm were needed. Cut the fork 4,5mm under the marked line and after correct preload I took off the top cap. 1,7mm to the expander (and exactly 4mm to the top of the fork). So only 0,2mm space left. That should be enough. But it is really close and don’t cut it too short. The hole at inside of the stem is only 10mm under the top. So only 6mm from the fork left for clamping. Didn‘t get why
1. they make an expander w/o an excessive lip (2mm)
2. make the cutout in the stem lower
3. make a top cap with a smaller lip

So attention here, don‘t waste with space, the „happy window“ is really small!

With the old barstem you „gain“ at least about a 1mm from the top cap.

Is that a newer style Black Inc. barstem? I don't recall a topcap that shape. The one I have is a typical round top cap.

Yes it is the new Black Inc bar. Was waiting about 5 months for the 360/110mm it. The Ostro frame was lying in the box since the September.
Got it from bike-components.de, great people there.

Unfortunately the new barstem is quite heavy at about 380g for the narrow version. But the size 54 Ostro Chrome frame weighs also 950g and the cut fork 432g. So a little porky at all, but I like the Ostro overall and only bought it because of the 360mm handlebar option. It measures 360mm at the STIs and 390mm at the drops. With the new Shimano STIs it measures at the hoods 340mm from c-c. Sorry, I have no better pictures at the moment. Have to built it completley up in the next few days.

That looks nice! Thanks for posting those images. From the looks of it...seems like there's a plug underneath that allows others to pass hydro hoses outside of the 1-1/8" steerer tube?

And you said 340mm c-c at hoods Sti, 390mm at drops, correct? seems like a 380mm bar would come out to 360mm once the shifters are mounted and measured?

I did DI2 full wiring and the plug underneath help to fiddle in a J304 junction after routing the brake lines. It was only enough room with the wire from the frame connected at the other side from the junction box. I have to bend the wires quite hard, but it worked out great and so better battery life and no DI2 wake up needed. I have removed batteries from the STIs. So gain back 2g. :D

Yesterday I fell over the Ostro Gravel manual und please have a look at the steerer there. Round fork and the brake lines go through the headset cap and then through the plugged hole from the bar.

Yes I would guess so too. 380mm wide bars should be 360mm with new Shimano STIs and 410mm at the drops.
