And another to add to the pack:

- Red dub crank, extralite chainrings

- 32mm Reneherse tyres (Aerothan tubes)

Hi Beancounter, sorry to reserect this but that crank looks amazing. Was it practical? Did it work well?
Also I'm due to change my challenge strada bianchi and fancy the rene herse, what weight is in those 32s?

Thanks

There's a new 'ready to paint ' frameset available which is also ready to ride and will definitely be the lightest finish available. Logos are also easily removable as well if you want to go full stealth:

Question about fit of the Aethos for any that have short torso/long legs.

I'm 183cm/6ft tall, with an 89cm inseam (saddle height usually 79cm). I've had a Retul fit, the fitter recommended a 56 with 100mm stem.
I'm considering going down to a 54 with a longer stem; this would require a 110-120mm stem and about 15-20mm of spacers to replicate my current fit, but I'd also have a ton of seat post showing and front-center would be tight.

Anyone have a similar fit decision?
I'm 184cm with saddle 79,5cm. I'm on a 56cm with 9cm stem. Needed the stack of a 58cm and reach of a 56cm. Inlack the flexibility 😄

Have a lot of seat post exposed on the 56cm. I think it can be a bit to much on 54cm with that saddle height.
Sounds a bit like me, but i am 187.. Specialized dealer said a 58 would suit me better, while i already bought a 56 approx. 1,5 year ago. Did you consider the 58?
I went from a 56 tarmac sl5 to a 58 Venge with 90mm stem but the reach was a bit to much for me. Now a 56 Aethos with 90mm and maxed out spacers 😢. I think a more endurance type geo should suit me more but really like the ride feel of the Aethos.

Any exprience with Ready to Paint framesets? I've got mine finally and it's beautiful, logos are easy to remove (which I wanted). Can I just assemble the bike and ride it as it is or should I put some protection on it (tapes? paint?)? How fragile are those carbon frames with minimum coating when it comes to loose stones/road debris hitting them?

My stripped Aethos has only 10g of clearcoat on it, in a year I only managed to scrape the chainstays a bit with my shoes, no marks otherwise. Unlike paint, I suspect the clearcoat can be easier to polish and touch up.

I bought a frame that was manufactured in 2021. Maybe they didn't sell so well?

I love mine! Went from a Venge to Aethos and never looking back. But I think most amateurs are buying the aero marketing even if they ride 32km/h
