Building these Chinese frames are not meant for every bicycle mechanic, nor every bike shop... maybe not meant for you.wheelbuilder wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 3:39 pmSure........ In my experience as a shop mechanic the Chinese "open mold" frames that I have built for frugal customers have suffered from issues like poorly faced caliper mounts, headset bore sloppiness, cable stop problems, etc. Not all, but quite a few.

Really curious how I got attributed with that, as I did not type the sentence in that quote.

As a lifetime home mechanic, who has built up many bikes, I have had to face caliper mounts on both open mold as well as branded frames (BMC, Giant, & Scott), not to mention I loaned my Park DT-5.2 to a friend who owns a LBS so one of his mechanics could fix a customer's bike!wheelbuilder wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 3:39 pmIn my experience as a shop mechanic the Chinese "open mold" frames that I have built for frugal customers have suffered from issues like poorly faced caliper mounts

I think this is true for almost every bike frame I have every purchased. From Titus, to Turner to IBIS to my new Cinelli, I have never received any instructions. When I e-mailed the Cinelli distributor for a pic of how they like the cables run, all they said was that there are no instructions or guides, you either know how to put together a bike or you don’t.
