+1 most shop interactions for a high-end bike go like this. Customer tells us what size their old bike was. We put them on that size on the bike they come in wanting and have them ride a size up/size down. Put them on the endurance bike instead almost never in a size up, they walk out happy.

There are a couple good endurance bikes which keep it simple - light, endurance geo but not overly upright, and no heavy gimmicks (ie. roubaix future shock, domane front and rear isospeed).
BMC Road Machine, Canyon Endurace, Bianchi Infinito are the top tier endurance offerings imo

Sadly it looks like shit with the shockicantaffordcycling wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 5:37 am@giatalope Have you actually ridden futureshock 2.0/isospeed. I wouldn't be so quick to call them gimmicks.

I’ve ridden isospeed. It was smooth. But stills feels unnecessary for my road riding. Maybe “gimmick” is too strong a word? Thanks for the other suggestions. I do like the BMC (although no dealers near me).icantaffordcycling wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 5:37 am@giatalope Have you actually ridden futureshock 2.0/isospeed. The BMC is much higher than Emonda H2 geo though no?
When I looked it was closer to normal Domane geo, and not the pro endurance geo....

I wonder if the new SL will just be an OCLV 500 "2018" SLR or if they'll use the new design...
When I lived in Chicago full-time, the Domane was a life saver. I had the orignal version with the isospeed on the back only but a city municipal worker took me out with a leaf blower, and the new crash replacement was the last rim version with the adjustable isospeed in the back and a second one up front. It is much lighter than the disc version and made all the difference on the 'pot-hole ridden we can't afford to pave' streets around the city and up north. Before that i was on a racier Cervelo and used to ice my elbows post ride from all the road vibration, so the Domane was a bit of a revelation to me. A gimmick that actually worked! I am wondering whether the future shock 2 will be the same.goatalope wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 1:34 amI’ve ridden isospeed. It was smooth. But stills feels unnecessary for my road riding. I like more rim based bikes than disc. I dont brake too much , and rim brake bike gives more - lower weight bike for less money. Most disc brake bikes weight 500 grams more than their rim brake versions. Why would I invest in low weight group and buy Dura Ace or Sram Red to have bike which weights same as bike with Shimano 105 or Rival ?

The paradox is that brakes are needed in the mountains during descents. Do you ride in the mountains or do you think rim-brakes are enough for the mountains and mountains+weather? And if you live somewhere flat, well that +500g isn't going to matter.cveks wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 5:32 amI like more rim based bikes than disc. Same design as the new one but probably sold without the integrated handlebar.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 3:35 amI wonder if the new SL will just be an OCLV 500 "2018" SLR or if they'll use the new design...
